Bad luck for me.
I was on 10.15.4 and during that upgrade I had to use USB with Clover 5102 to be able to boot. Clover on boot disk was 5099.
First thing I did today was update clover to 5112. No problem.
Then started 10.15.4 suppl. from System Preferences. Several restarts but back in old...
What procedure did you follow? I have same MB with i7 cpu, but have not succeeded so far.
First step goes well, then installer reboots and the install freezes with spinning beachball after a while.
Finally it's working for me.
I installed the FakePCIID.kext and FakePCIID_XHCIMux.kext with the KextBeast utility. Reboot, plug into USB3 port and it works!
When running the utility disconnect the USB drives as they will unmount immediately.
My BT mouse has no problems when de HD is connected.

I also notice that my mouse has bad response when I connect the HD to a USB3 port.
The BT-stick is on a USB3 port as well.
I changed BT to another port, no difference for the HD :thumbdown:.
Have similar issues with 4TB External Seagate Backup Plus I bought yesterday.
First TimeMachine backup succeeded. After reboot it would no longer connect to USB3.
Have a work-around by connecting it to USB2 port.
Got my GB Z97 D3H working, including USB3 ports on the MB.
Today I purchased a external Seagate USB3 HD for TimeMachine backups.
I connected the HD to a USB3 port.
It was recognized, I re-partioned with osx partition and created a first TM backup on it.
