I have a similar issue. I'm using an antec earthwatt PSU and I only hear the noise when I boot into OS X. When I had W7 installed I had none of these issues. From everything I've read it is a bad capacitor or possibly the fan.

Hmm... I bought a new hard drive because most of my research pointed to the hard drive, yet I still get the same errors. Last night I did have sort of an epiphony. I am trying to load os x with a blu-ray/dvd-rom drive. Could that be the issue?
Bump? Forgot to mention I am using a EVGA 9800GT located in the express x16 slot. Also I tried upgrading my bios to F8 and F5 (which tony uses in his guide) to no prevail. I did have windows installed on the hard drive but I formatted it and still have issues.
