10.6.4 Doesn't include an ATI4500Controller.kext anymore. All (the other) ATI-drivers were updated from 1.6.10 (in 10.6.3) to 1.6.18. I had the same symptoms you describe, until I replaced the 1.6.18 versions of the ATIFramebuffer - and ATISupport kexts with the 1.6.10 versions, while off...

Same here. For me it's only green when the menu bar is transparant. Your post is the only reference I could find on this. We have the same graphic card; perhaps the answer lies there.
