right just a little update so that anyone with a hp pavilion dv6-6176sa or similar will have an easier time installing.
my specs are as follows
2.1 GHz Intel Core i3-2310M works
4 GB DDR3 works
Video Graphics hd3000 graphics this works ootb
AMD Radeon HD 6490M (1 GB GDDR5 dedicated) this...
Try the same boot flags but change graphics enabler to yes. I have hd3000 and a ati 6490m and I have to use graphics enabler=yes to get it to boot from hd3000
Yeah it's a completely different ball game altogether. Most pc's can have thier bios tweaked and there are plenty of dsdt's out there for pc's. Trouble with laptops is they are all completely different. One thing that might work on one might not work on another. Like tony mac says on his laptop...
yeah, whenever i boot i have to use cpus=1. i have read that apparently if you have a core i3 then smbios 12,1 is supposed to native speed stepping. I've yet to try this though.
I have 10.7.2 running on my Hp dv6 6176, it's got a i3 2310m which has 2 cores and 4 threads. When I look at activity monitor it only shows 1 core. I have to boot with CPUs=1 but I wondered if there's a way I can show all 4 cores instead?
When you get to the chimera boot screen where you choose to boot from USB or hdd, type CPUS=1 and then boot from USB. That's what I have to do on my dv6
I have installed lion 10.7.2 using unibeast 1.2 and if I boot off the stick everything works perfect. Once I install easybeast and boot off the hard drive my USB ports stop working. I have tried the USB rollback, uninstalling the kexts in the system and replacing them with snow leopard ones...
I have a problem with my USB ports on my dv6. They work fine just after install when I reboot from unibeast. Then when I reboot from hdd after installing easy beast they don't work. I have tried USB rollback and installing different kexts using kext utility. Also tried usbfix=yes but nothing...
No that's wrong. They all have hyperthreading. The i5's are dual with hyperthreading, the i3's are dual with hyperthreading and the i7's are quad core with hyperthreading. I just looked some up on the intel website.
its not the first time its happened and I'm sure it won't be the last.
just a quick note as well. i did notice that none of the apple computers read the processor right. all the core i5's said they had 2 cores and the i7's had 4 cores. i know the i7 might be right (taking out the threaded...
i went into currys the other day and had a quick mooch around on a macbook pro running 10.6.7. it has the same hd3000 and ati 6490m as my hp. the difference is in the gmux and uefi drivers in system profiler. i think pauldmps maybe onto something with this, it seems a bit strange that is doesn't...
Oh right ok, so basically I need a reason to have a dsdt in place? Basically I want the brightness buttons to work as its draining my battery in about 2 hours. Also the voodoo battery kext seems a bit dodgy. Also I can't log into the app store no matter what vales I change or delete.
shame really cus its quite a good little card. why do apple have to make it so hard lol.
i have bought a miniature edimax wireless dongle. its a nano one but its got great range on it. you can hardly see it in the side of the laptop.
