I’m not sure how you’re concluding from that thread that the computer is “locked” to Windows 7. It’s basically saying what I already said. The machine came with Windows 7, which would have meant a MBR formatted drive. Uefi will not boot from an MBR drive.
My suggestion would be to try the...
Right, but if it's doing a MBR install of Windows, something is wrong. MBR doesn't support UEFI. That's why there's no EFI partition. If you have legacy support disabled, the MBR install of Windows 7 wouldn't be booting.
As far as the installer not booting, I was specifically referring to...
Maybe a stupid question, but you have the machine set to UEFI and not BIOS, correct? Also, turn off legacy support, do UEFI only. When imaging Dells at work I have seen MDT do a MBR (Bios) install of Windows because it detected that it was supported, but then the machine tried to boot with...
Hello all! I switched from my old Ivy Bridge Gigabyte build to a 9020 several months ago and it's been going mostly well thanks to this guide.
I have had an odd issue though with the system hanging (beachball of death) for 20-30 seconds occasionally. The mouse still responds, but that's about...
Are you guys having luck with the ALC887/888b kext from Multibeast with Sierra? In Yosemite I had to use the older style kext with patched SSDT. I have no audio with the kext included in 9.0.1
Macbook Pro 13 vs Hackintosh Memory Usage
When you say 250gb HDD do you mean mechanical hard drive? If so that's your problem. I have a 120g ssd in my Hack and going back to a spinning disk is painful.
I can't give any advice about 2011 boards as I haven't used them and have no plan to. IMO 2011 isn't worth it unless you need 6 cores, so unless you know your daughter needs the extra power, I would go with a well supported 1150 board.
Do you mind if I ask what your daughter is going to be...
Another GeForce 210 user here.
My issue started with ML. Using the latest Multibeast and installing according to Moarish's guide (kexts: 3rd Party Sata, ALC887, RealtekLan, FakeSMC) would cause long boots and unresponsive KB/Mouse for several minutes. Sackboyx and myself narrowed the issue...
Another successful update here. Mine was mostly painless except for audio. With ML I had the slow boot + unresponsive KB/Mouse with anything later than Multibeast 5.0.2. The audio from Multibeast 6.0.0 also causes slow boot on Mavericks, and the old kext doesn't seem to work any more.
What...
The header body (or housing), as in the black deals the pins go into. I would solder your precrimped cables (the cut end) to each of the G5 leads that you will need, then you can insert them (the other end with the female terminal) into the housings in the appropriate place for ATX standards.
Sounds about right to me. If you get wires mixed up you can always pull the pin out of the header body and swap them around. I would just attach all of your lead wires to the G5 body and then put the other ends in the correct spot last.
Does anybody have experience with the motherboard terminal housings and pins from FrozenCPU? I ordered a bunch to make a custom cable for my G5. My first attempt I just used extra old headers I had laying around and soldered/spliced the wires, but it looks like crap. :wtf:
I was going to make...
Reusing the original power button/front panel assembly is actually one of the easier parts of this mod if you have any wiring/soldering skills at all.
Here's the wiring diagram for the front panel. I've also included an attachment of all wiring diagrams for fans/etc.
The bigger problem...
So I've been doing some reading to try and understand why the new multibeast includes this new patched AppleHDA if it's causing problems. My understanding is that it is for HDMI audio, is this correct?
GOT IT!! :D
Download v5.0.2 of Multibeast and use it just as the guide says. Apparently something changed in v5.1.2
Everything's working good now on 10.8.0 at least. Now to upgrade and hope nothing breaks. ;)
Edit: Updated successfully to 10.8.2. Using the 5.0.2 FakeSMC plugins...
I was coming to a similar conclusion, although I haven't completed my testing.
I had tried removing the 3rd party sata kext previously and saw no change. Since the Unibeast intaller includes a kext for LAN, my guess was on the Audio kext causing the problem.
I did a clean install of...
That does seem to be one of the only non-standard components, but it seems odd to me that the CPU would be causing these issues. The CPU should be fairly flexible. At least in the case of my Xeon, it's basically an Ivy Bridge i7 without integrated graphics and a few extra instruction sets. It...

I don't have that kext there either. As I mentioned, if I don't install FakeSMC plugins I am able to update to 10.8.2 successfully. My problem must be with one of the other 4 kexts the plugins installs.
I still haven't made any progress with my kb/mouse and slow boot issues. Updating the...
