This is a basically fresh start and I will do a new Sur installation on basically a new machine. I have a compatible GPU, will follow the guide(s) here. I was just worried about big sur not recognizing a non APFS Yosemite time machine backup. Thanx again

My SSD in my Yosemite machine died a tragic death. Fortunately I have a current time machine backup on an external drive. Question is.... CAN I rebuild it as a Big Sur machine and use the Yosemite time machine backup to restore from? .... or do I rebuild as Yosemite and then upgrade to Big Sur...

My SSD packed it in on my Yosemite based machine. Have a current time machine backup. If I install Big Sur, can i use the Yosemite backup or will Big Sur balk??

BIOS is set to NOT IGPU Both are on DVI - not HDMI I swapped my GT740 SC card for my other GT740 card from my other Hack and it works fine.... I will look at the inject nvidia in clover - THANX!

Ya know - a 1TB drive is pretty cheap - I'd look hard at that.... Focus on getting the machine up and running first. Once you are satisfied it's working fine, then use MIGRATION ASSISTANT to transfer over your old data. Getting that sucker running smoothly is the challenge, not the recovery...
