I have this issue as well, the kext is well unstable. Remove it and you will be able to update sucessfully. Happened to two of my hackintoshes, removing this kext solved all problems with freezes and updates.

Yes, happens to me, I didnt know it was this kext causing the issue until today. When I had it installed, nvidia driver updates would panic the system, sometimes normal operation would freeze, and the software update to 10.10.5 would panic as well. Also restarts were causing panics, backtrace...
