I'm having the exact same problem after updating to Sierra with my Nvidia Fermi card (gtx560m). I had to switch to iMac14,2 SMBIOS to get around the black screen nvidia problem on Sierra, but previously used MacBookPro9,2 I believe. Have you had any luck figuring this out?
