Got HDMI Audio out on my HIS 5570 by editing the DSDT, forcing the Eulemur framebuffer even though it wanted to use Baboon and then editing ATI5000Controller.kext.
Had gotten stuck because I left the framebuffer Baboon and wasn't getting audio out. Reading over the case studies PDF got it taken...
Ok I figured this issue out so I will share how I resolved it.
If you change the display resolution it rehandshakes the screen.
So I mapped a remote button to an applescript in remote buddy to change the resolution from 1080i to 720p and back again really quickly.

HDDs experience a higher than nominal failure rate during the first 6 months of ownership due to potential manufacturing defects.
This is why I buy my HDDs locally at bestbuy- little known secret is they honor the manufacturers warranty. When my 200 GB IDE drive from 2006 died in 2009 I took it...
VoodooHDA will kernel panic if any other audio kexts are left in place in /Extras/Extensions/ or /System/Library/Extensions/ so make sure you've removed the other audio kexts like AppleHDA.kext and LegacyHDA.kext.
also maybe check this post and see if these files will work for you...
you could cut the Dr's build down to < $450 by getting a case & psu combo and going with the i3 540 which is a little less expensive.

Change your (HDAU) section of your DSDT back to what's in the DSDT database and use multibeast to install the correct kext for your ALC chip on the motherboard and LegacyHDA or VoodooHDA.
Sometimes when resuming from sleep I'll get no monitor output but I'm able to remote desktop into the computer so I know it's running. Any ideas how to get the GT 240 to consistently output video/rehandshake the display over HDMI?
From what I've read the GT 240 is pretty equivalent to a 9800 GT.
Yes the RAM on the 240 is faster compared to the DDR2 on the 9300 GT.
If you're going to have an i5 in the system I think either will be sufficient for what you're looking to do.
Better for what purpose? Games? HTPC?
Some additional information on how you plan on using the computer will help people actually give you a meaningful opinion.
Burninator I attempted to do the same thing with the IR component for a rev a macbook and had no luck. It seems the USB controller on those models is built into the logic board unlike the component being used which is a stand alone usb controller and IR board. I, after messing around for a while...
I for the life of me cannot get audio over HDMI working but I am a bit of a noob  Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated. VooDooHDA just causes the machine to kernel panic during boot so I'm going the more difficult route

Updated to 10.6.5 and the machine now boots.
VoodooHDA causes the machine to kernel panic at boot and during installing it with multibeast.
Still trying to get the DSDT and AppleHDA from 10.6.2 to recognize the card as an HDMI audio out.
System Profilier sees the card as GPU and I've lost all...
