Try booting from a USB stick with clover installed. select your HDD. Sounds like your installer stalled, this should allow it to finish. had the same issues, and my setup is near identical to yours.

I'm having some issues installing the update, My hack will install and freeze just as the screen turns black for a restart, will not continue or boot afterwards, have to restore from a clone, tried app-store, download and combo update, all the same results. Any ideas???

I had the same problem. It is indeed your Bluetooth dongle. IO makes a better compatible 4.0 USB dongle (link below.) If you can't order one, or you need the one you have to work and sleep properly, Go to Settings > Bluetooth > Advanced and turn off "Allow Bluetooth Devices to Wake this...
