    Powermac G4 MDD Mod #HELP

Hi there:P The biggest problem I had when I was doing my G4 sawtooth was making everything fit, especially the power supply and cpu cooler! I'm sorry I don't know anything on the paint job, I kept mine stock paint but have a look at some of the G4 modding threads on here and you will see some...

    MDD full ATX (another one

Haha maybe I will:P It's one of those hideous beige boxes though, needs a coat of flat black paint:thumbup:

    MDD full ATX (another one

Hi:wave: I have played with peltier coolers before but the main issue is getting rid of the extreme heat produced on one side and preventing the other side from getting so cold it causes condensation which will of course create water which is bad:shock: They also need a fair bit of power, maybe...

    MDD full ATX (another one

Awesome:P So both of the motherboards are good? Just the CPU died? Awesome:thumbup: I don't come on here as often as I used to but I'm still around, great fun watching this one come together:lol:

    My G4 ATX Front panel.

Very nice work! How did you do it? I did something similar for mine with a bit of vero board since I wanted to keep the old front panel, it's on my thread here http://www.tonymacx86.com/powermac-g4/134267-power-mac-g4.html Right back near the start as it was the first thing I did, I think it's...

    MDD full ATX (another one

Haha yeah! bring out the mouse traps:P Mine's running ok now, computers sure can be pretty random at times:lol: And hey you never know the cpu might be the problem, if not you can always put it to use in another machine and sell it once your'e done with the project, pretty frustrating problem...

Powermac g4 - the italian job

Well it depends on what you intend to use the system for, in mine I've got an old sempron 3600+ which meets my needs fine, but if I was going to play games or do video editing then I'd want something faster. Either way an i5 is still a good modern processor:P

    MDD full ATX (another one

Oh no:-( Such as shame, especially since you've done such a cool paint job:thumbup: Only thing I can think of is test your start button wiring and make sure the start/reset aren't shorted, also double check they are plugged into the motherboard right (should be able to find that in the...

I have a Mac G4 mod & need pros and cons

Yeah probably going to be hard to fit in water cooling, never worked on a quicksilver but in the old sawtooth cases there isn't much room :) 4 hard disks you can probably fit, if you can find any old pc cases pull out the hard disk cage an just bolt it in, that's the easy way:P Though the...

    Power mac G4

Haha thanks:) Well what happened was that when I did my motherboard standoffs they didn't quite work out as I'd intended and the motherboard is sitting a little too far back from the I/O back plate, I bolted it in so I'm not really sure if I can do much to adjust it... might be able to move the...

    Power mac G4

Well at last it's running!:) Not the best quality mod out there but I think I did alright considering my almost non existent metal work skills:lol: Basically I managed to squeeze in an AMD sempron 3600+ (old I know:P) with a 200w PSU and a 160gb hard drive. I got the colour changing led mod set...

    MDD full ATX (another one

Sorry haven't been on here in ages as I just got my G4 mod running and I had forgotten all the passwords to all the websites I visit:lol: I actually had to drag out my old pentium 4 system again to get them back lol! Great work on the case, the paint looks brilliant:thumbup: Shame about the...

    Power mac G4

Yeah kind of tricky with the PSU, I've decided itx is the way to go, I tried the standard atx but it completely obstructs the cpu cooling fan which is not good:O I want it to have decent airflow even if that means losing a bit of power for the time being (300w down to 200w for the ITX supply.) I...

    Power mac G4

Hi:) I bought the voltage regulator as a kit, but I've built them from scratch before too, really easy, depends if you want a fixed voltage for if you want to be able to adjust it. It only consists of the regulator and a few capacitors for filtering, and if it's a variable one then you need a...

    Power mac G4

Manged to get a few more hours work done today:P Thanks for the tips on using the dremel, I managed to grind off the original motherboard standoffs, using a high speed. Only problem was after two the blade was tiny and basically useless!:O I was hoping they would last longer. Or maybe I'm just...

    MDD full ATX (another one

Looks great! Those coolers are always quiet enough to me, but I'm not very fussy about noise:) So your'e going to channel the heat from the side intake to the back of the case? sounds interesting:P Sounds like it would work as long as the pipe is sealed somehow (maybe duct tape?)

    MDD full ATX (another one

Wow that looks very cool:P I like the blue lights installed under the top panel, looks really neat! The thing I like about case modding is you aren't stuck with the boring cases or having to pay a fortune to buy a decent looking one, and I have to admit the G4 towers are really well engineered...

    Power mac G4

Yes I have heard people have managed to, but you need to find windows 7 drivers for your board and I'm not sure if I can, it's from an old compaq desktop I found and it's missing a a panel so case is useless:P I wish I could though, at the moment I'm on XP with a stone age AGP motherboard...

    MDD full ATX (another one

Ah right thanks for the pictures!:P So you put a standard PSU into a different case to make it fit? Nice work on the intel coolers, I have heaps of the old ones (pentium 4 era?) around so I might try that for fun, though I've never liked the little plastic expanding pins on those things, I...

    Power mac G4

Ok thanks! Well just been looking at different processors and stuff I have around the place, I managed to dig out two (old) computers, one with an AMD sempron 3600+ the other has a celeron D:lol: I'm thinking of trying to get it to run windows 7 but we'll see... the sempron is newer so I'm...
