Intel I218V on Asus boards can work by using MultiBeast v6.3.1 or later

need to change sound output from internal speakers to line out in system and only black or orange rear jacks have sound output

seems all works fine on your asus z97 gryphon build now... if you can't hear the sound from on alc892 boards you can try to change to line out

maybe you can try Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC892 Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > Optional EFI Installed Bootloader Support Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > Intel 9 Series Motherboard Support and use "Line Out" (black or orange port) to output the sound

You can try to change the setting from BIOS on Asus 87 boards to boot legacy Boot \ Secure Boot > OS Type: Other OS

I installed AppleIntelE1000e v3.0.4.1a by MultiBeast 6.3.0 on 10.9.3 and the i218-v network controller worked on my asus z97-a. If you still not success, you can try to use kext wizard to repair & rebuild.
