I just want to say that I had same issue as OP and after hours of searching for a solution I found this, which solved it right away. I feel like this should be mentioned in the BIOS section of the Sierra installation guide. Anyway, thanks!!
Just mount the source EFI partition, copy the EFI folder to your desktop. Unmount source EFI, then mount destination EFI partition. It should be empty. Copy the EFI folder from your desktop.
