Quick data point -- I kept having the same issue you are reporting and eventually my Thunderbolt devices wouldn't show up when connected. The solution for me was to remove the kernel patches, reboot, still didn't show up quite right, but then I generated a DROM from NVM 38 firmware bin and added...
Wow! I love what I am reading! Thank you all for moving these efforts forward even more. Woohoo!!
For all of you mentioning my user as a contributor; thank you, but you all give me too much credit...I'm just a n00b following the lead and direction from Elias64Fr and CaseySJ.

Thank you @Elias64Fr ! I just reviewed your post and will do my best to answer your questions once my work day ends.
Regarding the BIOS settings -- yesterday I took some screenshots of BIOS settings, random Windows settings, some more macOS details, as well as the outcome when I attempted to...
YES!! So I noticed that the Thunderbolt bus initially activated when I added the TBTFlags to my SSDT. I previously was spoofing the device-id as discussed earlier in the thread. Adding the kext patches is what made the devices show up when attached under the thunderbolt bus.
Lastly, I did boot...
Also, I just enabled the two kext patches provided

Woohoo! I was just able to reproduce the crash. This is definitely the second of the two distinct types of freeze restarts I've experienced with Monterey. Whether the real issue is Spotify or something related to graphics / hardware acceleration / audio configuration we shall find out.
Here's...
I appreciate the explanation and totally agree with your two cents :), however I should've provided more fact supporting my statements as I made myself sound like a basic n00b taking a guess.
I found Spotify to be directly related to the less frequent freezes and restarts as when I restarted...
Thank you all for your feedback and suggestions. I too have experienced the random freezes which result in a reboot of my build. I found there to be a few different reasons why.
Making sure I started with the recommended sudo pmset -g values and I did not have the invalid settings related to...
I was experiencing this exact same issue on my X299 board. I tried everything I could think of.
Thanks to @S1lla for sharing @apfelnico's creative solution in this post. Adding the ASMedia kext to my OC Kexts solved the issue for me. All issue resolved! :)
First of all -- thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread! I successfully brought my X299 build up to Big Sur (11.0.1) .
My first attempt was an upgrade from Catalina (10.5.7) using Clover r5126, but I experienced non-stop issues with Clover and the volume selection always showing...
I just noticed when following a specific set of steps I can get Thunderbolt 3 hotplug working on my Z170X-UD5 TH. It doesn't work every time--every third attempt after reboot. I've attached screenshots, ioreg, ssdts, and config.plist. The trick I found is that when I remove the Thunderbolt 3...
This is awesome @borysbass !! I followed your instructions and was able to rename the PCI Devices from my OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock. Following @kgp 's awesome guide, I removed the SSDT entries for my Thunderbolt 3 Add-In card and then added those entries to my config.plist using their PCI Address...
@kgp First off, thank you for assembling such a thorough X299 guide! Major thank you to all the others who contributed or shared their experiences with Skylake-X as well!
