Would you say a stable OS with no "why the hell did that suddenly stop working" events is reasonably easily achievable? Assuming best practices/choices for hardware, installation, etc.

I do recall using Carbon Copy Cloner before, which certainly helped put my mind at ease. I've scanned through a few of the "golden builds" and it sounds like there are some hardware setup that work great with very minimal effort.

I fixed my audio issues. The problem was being caused by some kind of conflict between the LegacyHDA + HDAEnabler and VoodooHDA (which I had installed previously).
VoodooHDA-only worked for USB audio, but not built-in audio.
