    4770k OC OVER 4.3 GHz

Thanks for the info p0ttz! I'm definitely OC'ing from the BIOS and not from Extreme Utility. I'm going to take your advice and start from the beginning again and work up tunning smaller variables at a time. Hopefully this will get me over 4.3, but if not it's still plenty fast for what I need lol.

    4770k OC OVER 4.3 GHz

Ok, I just did a little playing around with Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and attached a shot of my settings below. If I go any higher on the clock I get system crashes, I've tried adjusting the core between 1.23-1.28, I've bumped the ring to 1.25, but I think I may be maxed at 4.3. Any suggestions?

    4770k OC OVER 4.3 GHz

Thanks for the info p0ttz, that link from overclock.net was the first thing I read about how to overclock and was a good read. I also read a lot about the 4770k's varying greatly with the amount you could push them, and was just trying to see how far mine would go before stability become a...

    4770k OC OVER 4.3 GHz

Could some of those who have stability over 4.3GHz post your settings? I'm just curious to see how others are obtaining speeds higher than 4.3 as I can't get my 4770K stable any higher than that. Also, if you wouldn't mind posting your cooling setup as well that'd be very helpful.

    ddrees's Haswell ATX: GA-Z87-OC - i7-4770K - GTX 760

After doing some additional research as to why I can't push the i7-4770K any farther than 4.2GHz I think I may have found my issue. It does seem that these new Haswell i7's are limited due to the amount of heat they generate, so the headroom is limited. I figured with my Corsair H60 this...

    Lexone's Haswell Build: GA-Z87X-OC w/DSDT - i7-4770K - GTX780

I ended up using antipop like lexone suggested and haven't had that issue since. It took maybe 5 seconds to download the file, and installed about as quick :).

    Hiwa's Overclocked Haswell Build: GA-Z87X-OC, i7-4770K & G.SKILL 16GB @ 2933MHz

Hey Hiwa, how were you able to get your CPU speed so high while remaining stable? I have the same mobo and CPU, but am only able to reach 4.2GHz without encountering instability (random system freezes and shutdowns). Does the memory you run allow you to raise the CPU clock while remaining...

    Lexone's Haswell Build: GA-Z87X-OC w/DSDT - i7-4770K - GTX780

I'm currently using a Corsair H60 liquid CPU cooler, and my CPU temp rarely rises above 50c under normal load. During stress testing it will rise to ~90c, but recovers very quickly. You can check out the rest of my setup in my build thread, and I'll be posting my overclock settings there as...

    ddrees's Haswell ATX: GA-Z87-OC - i7-4770K - GTX 760

Thanks Lexone I fixed the URL in my original post. Are the pictures in my post not showing? I attached a couple images of how my "About This Mac" displays. I updated the processor to show my overclocked speed (4.2) and the computer picture under "Overview". I thought I renamed the machine under...

    Lexone's Haswell Build: GA-Z87X-OC w/DSDT - i7-4770K - GTX780

I'm currently at 4.2 GHz, and running very smooth and stable. I attempted to push to 4.5 GHz (CPU should handle), but was encountering some system crashes. I'm going to work on trying to get the clock back up, but for now I'm very happy at 4.2. -Sorry for the thread hijack edit - actually it...

    Lexone's Haswell Build: GA-Z87X-OC w/DSDT - i7-4770K - GTX780

I just finished building my first Hackintosh, and with my first post in this forum I just wanted to say that I could not have done it without this guide. Thank you Lexone for putting this together and being as detailed as you were (linked files, screenshots, etc...)! So far everything is working...
