I built my own card as per others in the forum using both the mini pci card with an Atheros mini wifi adapter but have been having drop out issues with it. Also the range isn't all that good with the card I bought. (Previous gen, no 5 ghz band) I too ordered one based on Bobcat's review...
Another big thanks to you Gordo!
You're guide and threads here have helped me a ton.
I know you have already mentioned that sleep fixes didn't apply to you but have you ever since played around with it or found a fix that "just works" ?
Thanks again!
Fantastic job!
This is pretty inspiring. I see some old Mac cases from time time at yard sales or online and think it would be an awesome project to tackle. Just out of curiosity how many hours would you say the build took you?
Nice to know if it is a weekend project or should I be clearing...
Worked for me!
Thank you so much. I hope to edit my DSDT and get this working through the normal method soon, but in the meantime I have sound. :headbang:
I noticed that too. Everything else seems to work great on the f12 dsdt except with 10.7.4 my audio is toast.
I know a lot of people have been having issues with sound after upgrading as well so I thought it might be part of the same but after trying almost all the fixes I think the DSDT...
Re: Guide: GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 with ATI 6870 - Clean Lion Install
Anyone else having issues with graphic artifacts in the boot process?
I have the bios and boot loader giving me strange artifacts every now and then on boot up.
If I restart it usually goes away. Any ideas? I am guessing it...
I am in the same boat after applying the update.
My board is a gigabyte z68x-ud3h-b3.
I might try to create a unibeast flash drive with my MacBook and then do the restore but would love to know if there is a solid fix to this issue.
Re: Guide: GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 with ATI 6870 - Clean Lion Install
I too am having no luck with my blue 3.0 ports working.
If anyone has a fix please PM me or post the answer as I have recently ordered both a hard drive caddy and flash drive in the USB 3.0 flavor and would love to take advantage...
+1 for the CM hyper 212+
I have it on this board with my 2500k and the same ram as the OP.
The heatsinks do interfere in the first slot with the fan in the original push setup so I simply placed the fan on the pull side instead.
In my Antec 300 case (decent airflow) I get under 30 degrees idle...
I know this is an old thread but I just built up my I5 2500k machine this week and had a quick chance to run a few benchmarks.
I have the cpu running at 3.7 ghz in the bios (detected at stock speeds in Lion)
and my score was 10,000.
I hope to play with it more this week when I have the time...
Re: Gordo Build: GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 with 6870 (Guide Linked)
Hey Gordo, do you have any pics yet of your masterpiece?
Ps. Thx for the great guides and help. :headbang:
I've been looking at a video card in hopes of fixing some of my Lion installation woes.
(Also for some BF3 playing in windows) ;)
Can anyone here confirm that the powercolor 6870 works OOB in Lion?
It is the non-PCS version listed here...

Re: Guide: GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 with ATI 6870 - Clean Lion Install
Thanks for the quick reply.
One more question if I may. I checked around and couldn't find an answer but do you have any idea if the intel smart response tech works on the hackintosh builds or is it windows specific?
Thanks...
Re: Guide: GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 with ATI 6870 - Clean Lion Install
Hey Gordo Many thanks for a great guide! I'm hoping to put together my new machine tonight using it but I have a few questions for you first.
Is there still a requirement to build the machine with only 4GB of ram in the system...
Anyone get this working yet? I too have a 1TB and 64GB SSD that would be great to use in this setup.
Would there be a requirement for OSX drivers to make this work? Since it's done via the BIOS isn't it independent of the OS?
