So, I am entertaining getting a 6950 XT. I have been reading some mixed articles on whether it is compatible with MacOS. Can anyone confirm whether it is a reliable card to Hackintosh with? My understanding is that you can Spoof the card ID to act like a 6900 XT through ssdt's. Is this actually a reliable method? I have also read that with the AMD reference card you can simply flash the BIOS of the 6950 XT back to a 6900 XT? Is this a real method and is it reliable? Another concern is the XTX vs XTXH issue. The AMD 6900 XT reference is XTX which is OOB plug and play. The AMD 6950 XT reference is a KXTX. Is this an issue?

Any input would be appreciated.

I referenced the video from here to create the ssdt:

Worked without any issues.
Turned out my ssdt was the same as the ssdt linked in post 9.

I used hackintool to get the device path.

Thanks! You have full acceleration in all apps?

Have you heard of the method to clone the AMD 6900 XT reference BIOS to the AMD 6950 XT reference? There is a thread on macrumors? Macrumors Link

Obviously this would downgrade the card, but would make compatibility more seamless I think?

Appears to be working well.

I did have one hiccup... I updated to OC 0.9.8 and my Metal score dropped alot, like in the 98,000 to 110,000 rage.

I put my old OC 0.9.5 EFI back and it's back to 230,000

This is good to hear. I am debating grabbing one as I think they are pretty much disappearing from stores. I don't see the 7900 XT getting driver support either. Spoofing would probably be the safest/most versatile method in case there is a need to boot into Windows.

If anyone else has tried the BIOS flash, I would be interested in knowing.
