"Mini" form factor Dell/HP/Lenovo systems on Ebay

Over the weekend, I tested a bit of emulation on this system using Batocera. I was very surprised to see that every PS2 and PSP game I tried ran great at 1080p.

I also tried a few PS3 games. You won't be doing any upscaling here, but I think most games should run decently at native resolution. The CPU seemed to max out during the "compiling ppu modules" stage but settles down after.

It’s arrived, i7 7700T in place!.

I was thinking... One of these systems costs less than the price for a chopped down version of Parallels.

I guess philosophically, it's like getting an Orange Micro PCfx card instead of buying SoftPC or Virtual PC.

The benefit of Parallels is that it seamlessly interfaces with macOS. I can copy/paste stuff between Mac programs and Windows programs; it can access files, so I can work on the same file without transferring it from computer to computer.

These little boxes are pretty cool though! I do have a 6700 lying around, so I'm definitely interested. My daughter has been asking for a Mac and I'm not sure I want to jump on the M2 yet. Can these boxes run Ventura?

Usually, I like to sandbox my virtual machines as much as possible.

If the files you are working on reside on a shared drive (i.e. NAS), both systems can have access to the files without having to copy anything back and forth.

If you use VNC, you can also fully control the secondary system with the keyboard/mouse from your primary system.

The motherboards have no problems running Ventura. Your 6700 will need to spoof Kaby Lake IGPU to be compatible with Ventura.

R.I.P i7 7700t . I’m fairly certain that’s what’s happened, failing to boot on H110 and this. I do have a 6600 spare!.

Too bad it's over 3 years old as Intel gives you a warranty on new CPUs similar to what mobo makers offer. That being said, it's rare to ever see a CPU fail if it isn't overclocked to extremes.

This Intel® Boxed Processor three-year limited warranty applies to eligible Intel® Processors and thermal solutions that are packaged in authentic Intel packaging and sold to end customers as standalone components. Intel® Processors contained within OEM systems are subject to OEM manufacturer warranties and generally are not supported directly by Intel. Consult the Warranty Guide for Intel® Processors for more information.

It came free with another mini I got a couple of years ago, I’m not that concerned!, going to check the manual for cpu compatibility.
