Hi all- I have had a bit of a search but couldn't find this problem- was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

I have built a Hack with gigabyte z390 mb, intel i59600 and sapphire rx580 gpu pretty standard windows usb keyboard. installed catalina using Casey's install instructions

everything in the system works very well

BUT:

when i've left the system is asleep I often return to find it with the screen activated and typing in the password field
the fans are spinning up and there is cpu load- when I go to delete the password field the computer is slow to respond. eventually it clears and I'm able to input password and login and everything is fine.

It's as if something has been leaning on the keyboard and input a million characters (but nothing is leaning on the keyboard!)

any thoughts much appreciated!!

no thoughts on this?

Have you tested with another keyboard to see if the same issues arise?

Are you using a Wired or Wireless keyboard? If it is a Wireless setup have you checked the batteries in the keyboard?

Additionally:
  • Have you created a custom USB configuration for your system, is it working correctly?
  • Care to share it so we can see what you are using?
  • Are the port connector types set correctly for the physical USB ports?
  • Do you have any unnecessary patches for the USB ports enabled in your config.plist?
  • What other activities are happening when you log back in to the system after a sleep?
  • Have you left Activity Monitor running so you can see what processes are using the system resources?
