Switch SMBIOS for new GPU?

Sorry guys if I might ask a question, which has already been answered. I've tried to use the search, not only here, but also on other pages I'm a member of, but haven't been able to get as definite answer, so please be patient with me.

For over 6 years now, I've been running a hack using an i7 3770K and an AMD RADEON HD 7950. Everything works fine, not least because of the help I was able to find here. But now I'm starting to feel the need for an upgrade. Recently I cut my first 4K project with FCPX and it has been quite frustrating. Frame drops, wait times...nothing compared to the flawless workflow I was used to with 1080p material so far.

Therefore I thought it was time to start buying new components and the first thing coming out of my shopping cart is a VEGA 64.

Now the question:
I always thought that the thing to keep an eye on while choosing the SMBIOS is mostly the CPU. Therefore I'm running Mojave on a 13.2 SMBIOS. Since I'm just going to do 2 things: do a fresh install with Catalina and my brandnew VEGA, do I have to/should I change the SMBIOS too, or should I wait for this until I buy a new board and CPU?

Personally I would get all the chosen components first then build that kick a$$ hack choosing a SMBIOS value as close as possible to a real Mac. You've done it before with a 13.2 SMBIOS so no reason you won't be able on something more meaty and compatible and there's plenty of help around if you need so go right ahead. Good luck.

You know, that's what I wanted to do at first. But then I thought, wouldn't it be ridiculous, that after all this time we've all been criticizing Apple for not building a modular MAC I would exchange all components at once although I have such a modular machine? Therefore I want to exchange to GPU only and try to overclock the CPU as much as possible. While writing this I'm running a stresstest @4.6 GHz.

So, just in case someone is ever going to read this thread: I just installed my new graphics card and it worked OOB. It's a GIGABYTE RADEON RX VEGA 64 8GB OC. Currently I'm still running Mojave with SMBIOS 12.1. Next up: new board, CPU and RAM.
