So my situation:

I had 2x GTX 1070 Ti's in SLI on High Sierra (web drivers) and Windows 10. With SLI bridge connected High Sierra had problems. So I'm selling them.

I was under the impression AMD GPUs were natively compatible but it seems only certain cards are.

My question - what are the best high performing cards I can buy which will very compatible with High Sierra, and preferably Mojave?

I'm think RX Vega 64. Will it work? IS there anything better? Would it work box of the box, or will it require MultiBeast faffing?

My main display is a high res Ultrawide, along with 3x 1080p displays. I'll want to use it in Windows for gaming, and macOS for video editing and general day to day stuff.

I was thinking it would be great if people could post what they have along with install problems, limitations, etc. But mainly, any help would be appreciated.

After drawing through hundreds of posts, Nvidia 1070/80 Ti's seem almost more compatible up to High Sierra.... It seems like Vega's have there own fair share of problems......

I was wondering this same thing, I was about to pull the trigger on a Vega 64 to start my Hackintosh build. I have a 1080ti right now in my gaming system but was under the impression the AMD cards worked out of the box since that's what Apple is currently using. You think I should stick to NVIDIA cards and not go to Mojave?

Mojave sucks, I downgraded to HS. But bought the RX 580 anyway (ditched 1070). Works very nice and very quiet.

IMO - Nvidia/HS is pretty bullet proof. I have no problems whatsoever running a single card.

From what I read, Vega64 'work' out of the box. But there are all sorts of fan control issues. Fans running high when idle, slowing down under load causing overheats and crashes. The fixes sound a bit bodge to me. So I'm going to be sticking with Nvidia/HS until such time as we know Mojave drivers will not be coming out at any time. Or until someone comes up with a solid AMD fan fix.

I was thinking of just getting a Corsair Commander Pro and bypassing the OS controlling the fans all together.

Lets be real here. Mojave is a no-no for hackintosh, because:
1. Nvidia, which is the superior brand in terms of performance to power ratio, doesn't have drivers for Mojave yet
2. AMD cards are a hit or miss. No guarantee that it's going to work, and if it does, other issues such as heating can arise.

Get an Nvidia card, stick with High Sierra, and you'll be satisfied. Only difference between HS and Mojave is dark mode, which is awesome on my laptop btw, but is a worthy tradeoff for raw power imho.

Just a FYI there is no such things as SLI/Crossover in MacOS.

So I haven’t messed with a Hackintosh for awhile but I’ve got a 1080ti and a 8700k right right now, will I have any issues installing HS?

Fans issue for reference designs is solved by a few methods.
1). The VGATAb utility which fixes fans but Also controls frequencies, voltage etc...
2). Powerstates editing has been an option for awhile.
3). There is a VegafanSpeedkext.

Some of the multi fan models but not all may still have the fan issue but Mojave 14.3 beta has shown some native fan control improvements.

AMD RX 470-580 models also had a brief fan issue in the early Sierra versions but they got worked out. Now they all run great.

The only AMD (current vintage) cards that don’t work are the RX 550 models (Lexa, not Polaris) and the XFX RX 460-560 models.

Polaris cards work great in High Sierra and Mojave, Vega cards work best in Mojave.
