Hi,

I'm having an odd problem with my system. At random intervals the screen goes dark for about a second and then comes back as if nothing had happened. This only seems to happen with a DisplayPort connection, with HDMI it works fine (but then that 30hz refresh rate, meh). Sometimes the system will go for awhile without blanking, sometimes it will blank itself 2 or 3 times a minute. I can't seem to correlate it to any of my activities, and a log-search doesn't seem to reveal anything interesting. I also tried a different DP cable.

The system:
Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1050 2GB
GIGABYTE B360M D3H
Intel i7 4700
High Sierra 10.13.4 (17E199)
NVIDIA Web Driver 387.10.10.10.30.106
NvidiaGraphicsFixup 1.2.6, running with "ngfxpatch=pikera -ngfxnovarenderer" (solved wake-after-sleep issues)
SMBIOS iMac14,2

Anyone seen such a thing? Anyone got tips on how to debug further?
Thanks,
Ben

I got HDMI 2.0 working on the system, but, alas, same thing. So it's not related to display-port but I guess running a 4k monitor @ 60hz. Someone mentioned updating the VBIOS. Guess I'll try that.

Hi osheroff. Is your DP cable of good quality?

@sbeaber4, yeah, have tried two different DP cables. In the latest setup I'm running with an hdmi cable @ 60hz and that's going black too.

Hmmm. Are you sure you need that patch?

I ask that because prior to the current NVIDI drivers, my if my Display would sleep I had to do a hotplug to get it to work again and even that, there were many times it wouldn't work. But the latest drivers solved that issue for me.

Perhaps its a bad DP port on the gpu or the display? Can you test with another OS?

Impressive that you got the hdmi to run @60hz. I've yet to do that.

I think I'm one rev behind the very latest drivers (behind the security patch rev). Without NvidiaGraphicsFixup patches I got nothing but blank screen after sleep. I'm pretty sure the blank screens happened before the patches.

I tested it under windows. Everything seemed fine there.

Well, I'm stumped. I feel it might be a driver issue but I am stabbing in the dark.
For 4k HDMI @60hz - I thought there was no mac that could do that. My hdmi ports on my 1060 run 4k @30hz only.
