Hello. I had a perfectly working Hackintosh Snow Leopard 10.6.8 for many years.
Now that I have upgraded my GPU I have no clue where from to get a new driver for Snow Leopard.
I used to have a NVidia 250GT and it was working great with Snow Leopard.
Now with the NVidia 960 all I get is 1024*768 resolution.
I tried visiting the NVidia website for drivers, but selecting the 960 I didn't find any Mac OS Drivers.
I tried searching the forum for drivers for the NVidia 960 and those that I have found are for a newer OS such as 10.11 and 10.12.
So is there any way I could get any better resolution with my NVidia 960? Otherwise the hackintosh seems to work fine.
I can't upgrade to a newer OS, I am stuck with 10.6.8 because I am using a very old program in this hackintosh that doesn't work with newer OS X.

There are no drivers for the GTX 9xx series GPUs in SL. Mavericks or later is required to use these GPUs.

For SL, you can use anything up to the GT400 series GPUs - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nvidia_graphics_processing_units. for the charts of the different GPUs by nVidia

Thank you so much for clarifiying this! I wouldn't be able to find this info.
So I guess I will stick to 1024*768 resolution since I can't replace my gfx card at the moment.

I checked the Wiki page you send me, but I didn't find in the charts any compatibility info about the Snow Leopard.
How do you know all that?

Snow Leopard is from 2009 so anything Apple shipped or support third party is about it. You are running in non-accelerated mode right now so you are better off with an old GPU vs the 960.

Because I lived through it . See also http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/11/fully-compatible-nvidia-graphics-cards.html

You can also take a look at the 2010/2011 Customac Guides

and you will notice in 2011 Lion got the GT500 series added

2010-2011 Apple also shifted to ATI/AMD GPUs, so not as much support for nVidia cards

Thank you for sending all these helpful links. I didn't managed to use the 960 Nvidia with Snow Leopard.
What I managed to do, I just took the SSD drive that was the Snow Leopard installed into an older computer I have.
The old computer is a Core 2 Duo, with an 8600GT and guess what... it works!!
I am so happy now! I didn't have to do the installation from scratch.
