M.2 SSD in PCIe x4 Slot?

Hello,
I'm planning on either buying the Intel 600p or the Corsair Force MP500, which are both NVMe M.2 SSDs.
Since my motherboard, Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H, doesn't have an M.2 slot, I am planning on getting a PCIe to M.2 adapter as well.
I am wondering whether or not this will work with macOS 10.12.4 and the RehabMan NVMe Kext, and what steps I'd have to do to install the Kext.
