[SOLVED] Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080/1070

I guess at this point I'll buy another GTX970 Strix to kick ass in Win10+Steam, and I'll wait for next generation AMD next year or so to upgrade. 970 SLI is still the dog's bollox for performance, fsck 4K, I'm perfectly happy with 1080p and my big Sony TV.

Sure, Nvidia is still pushing WebDriver updates for each OS release, and they also continuted develop them further. Sierra WebDrivers made a huge leap in build revision and included G-Sync for the first time.
I guess Pascal drivers will also arrive sooner or later, but the priority seems to be quite low.

Remember, Nvidia took approx. half a year to release Maxwell drivers after GM107 debuted.
It's been almost 4 months since Pascal launched already. . .

At this point I'm starting to wonder if it's really Nvidias slowness with development or because of politics. If Nvidia were to release pascal drivers, it would blow any configuration of an original Mac out of the water and no one has anymore reason to buy directly from Apple, at least not in the desktop field.

And since Nvidia surely wishes to have their GPUs in Mac hardware again, they don't want to pee on Mr. Cook.

Remember that Mac Pro users can upgrade their GPUs so Nvidia do have a reason to add Pascal support to their drivers .

Make you sure you don't have CsmVideoDxe in your clover64UEFI. Try this!

Thanks Hemon. Still no luck. I keep switching my bios between using iGPU and PCI1 (which is my 1080) and testing.
  • When I use PCI1, macOS see's the NVidia 1080, uses 1600x1200 (on a 3440x1440 monitor), and reports using 7mb
  • When I use iGPU, macOS see's the HD530 using ~1500mb and some odd resolution. I only know this because I screen share from my rMBP when the screen goes black.
Not sure if at this point I should be using inject intel, inject Nvidia, both or neither! I will say when clover loads with the 530, it sure looks like it is using a high resolution, and so does the apple loading screen... up until it finishes and goes black.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Mine is working perfectly with 10.12.1 I have lost faith on Pascal drivers for MacOS...

Thank you for that. I may stay on 10.11.6 until a .3 or .4 update in Sierra. There really isn't anything in Sierra I need on my desktop (I also have a MacBook Pro with Sierra).

Have to think over the weekend to sell the 1080 or not. It's such a great card though, under Windows 10. (tho I hate Windows). It's quiet, efficient, and doesn't even make any noise on full load. And runs everything I throw at it in max speed at 1440p.

Apple dropped all Mac Pro cheesegrater support except for the 5,1 (which is 2010-2012) Mac Pros. I assume in the next new macOS release, they will completely drop support for the old Mac Pro.

Finally got HD530 working via HDMI on my 3440x1440! Many thanks to the brain-trust here @ Tonymacx86! A bit afraid to tackle the sound & Bluetooth issues just yet!

My HD530 is working, but it's horribly glitchy and I can't play video. I'm running Sierra :<
