Inspiron 5523 - Ultrabook 15z i7-3517u

So I am trying to create the installer and have tried both my kids machines to do this. Yosemite and El Capitan in unibeast are greyed out on both machines. On both I went to the App Store and the only available dl was Sierra. I tried dl'ing that on both machines, confirmed it to be in the applications folder but in both instances unibeast failed to recognize it being there.

Any suggestions because I'm stuck

Follow the Clover guide linked from the FAQ.

So in keeping with my 'Diary' in hopes that I can refer back if I need to, I thought I would update my status on my Dell build and the things I have tried so far.

1. My Carbon copy failed as it seems that it didn't include the EFI folder and no mountable drive was found. Weird though is when re-ran CloverEFI it updated files rather than fresh install. Hence I have lost all known working plist files.
2. I was able to create a Yosemite USB drive using Unibeast and have that currently installed but as of yet have not completed the post-install; first attempt failed.
3. Created Yosemite clover based usb installer based on the OP under UEFI. Have had no success reaching the installer in either UEFI or Legacy mode. Have tried many args and also modifying sample config plist but always end up at the circle with a line (technical name?). I have ensured as previously learned to use dart=0 and nv_disable=1. I have also used -v and it appears as though I receive a KP for Bluetooth?
4. Have decided to not waste a lot of time on Yosemite and have created a new clover based Sierra which I will now work with. If I can't get that going I will resort to using Unibeast.

Not much in the line of questions at this point as I am sure there is going to be a lot of reading, testing and trialing in order to get this going. The goal is to have a fully functioning UEFI Clover-based Sierra system...frustrating part is that I know it can run it as I had it fully functioning before!

Read post #31.

Just to update on my 'Sierra' build.

Through lots of reading I stumbled upon jcarcinogen's OP for his Inspiron 7559 and figured I would give it a try. After a few attempts and some trial and error I am now up and running in Sierra. Now I know this is not perfect and will need a fair bit of work to customize it to my hardware; for example, I am still not able to re-boot directly without getting a stop sign, so I am booting through a 'tethered' method for now using the clover USB.

Time to go back to reading to complete the post-install correctly by configuring my SMBios, patching ACPI and getting sound and iMessage working.

The one question I do have is in regards to SMBios. I know when I first started this last year I originally on Yosemite I had selected MacBookPro8,2; which was not the correct one for Ivy CPU. I believe it was suggested that MacBookAir6,1 (2?) was correct for my hardware but I can't seem to find an instruction on how to properly select it; just more of a high-level 'how to create it'...is this just simply based on the SPECS that are listed against mine?

Will post more results as I work through all the kinks.

*update*

Using jcarcinogen's OP as I mentioned above and also 'an idiot's guide to iMessage', I have successfully updated my system to MacBookAir 5,2 and am now able to successfully boot without issues. Below are a few things that I need to work on;

1. Modify the DDST/SSDT to my hardware
2. Find solution for missing trackpad options in sysprefs (currently using ApplePS2SmartTouchPad kext)
3. Find solution for flickering display...seems to show more in Chrome/Opera.
4. Fix missing Audio.
5. Re-test iMessage as I wasn't able to successfully activate after following the above noted guide.

I think this will be the last post under this thread as it is probably not relevant under Yosemite any longer!

You probably have broken graphics...
