I recently switched from a 460 SE (everything worked fine) to a 960, and now, whenever my second monitor is connected, the hackintosh either: 1) reboots if it is already on or 2) reboots before reaching the login screen. The thing is that in scenario 1 or 2, it begins to work fine after it reboots. The second monitor is an old VGA monitor, but it is connected to the DVI port on my card via a VGA to DVI adapter. I have found a thread which said to change my SMBIOS to iMac 14,2 from 13,2 which it currently is at, and I experience the same symptoms as I do now (i.e., this didn't work). Is there something I can do to fix it, or do I have to live with having to boot twice every time (sleep and everything else works flawlessly)?

Don't use any VGA adaptors. Thats a common problem when using VGA.

I feared that would be the answer. I guess I'll have to live with it then. It used to work perfectly with my 460 SE, but I understand VGA support in OSX is flaky. I will try another DVI monitor from a friend, and see if that doesn't have the problem.

I came here looking for a solution to the same problem. 2 VGA monitors where one has a VGA 2 DVI adapter, the other a VGA 2 HDMI adaptor. Both are connected to an EVGA GeForce GTX 960 SuperSC ACX 2.0+.

Bummer

But hey, now I can stop looking at possible solutions, as the only solution is buying new monitors...

Please post back if you buy new monitors to let me know if it works :). I will live with rebooting once or twice and using my VGA monitor in the mean time.

Now, with Sierra, I can't boot in with the second monitor at all. I can only use the primary DVI monitor. Is there a solution to this?
