I will freely admit I'm a geek, I am a Mac user (Real and Hacked) I have a degree in Information Systems, but work in a very low tech industry (Wine Sales/Distribution) and I end up being SYSADMIN for my entire family.

So I curious what makes up this group of hackers for lack of a better term...

I've used Macs for 17 years so far. I appreciate a good challenge and making a PC run OS X was something I wanted to try from the start of the switch from PowerPC to Intel. My first was a Gateway tower that had pretty much everything that was needed to get the job done. That one ran Tiger quite well and I wiped it back to XP before I sold it. After that one I still have the MSI Wind U90 running Snow Leopard that serves as my ultra portable. My most recent has been the Core i5 machine. A Hackintosh will never be a primary machine for me but more of a secondary if need be machine.

<--- Gamer that needs Windows and easily upgradable systems but doesn't want to let go of OS X's awesome User Interface.

Among other things.

<----- I LOVE Logic Pro 8 and 9! The interface and midi instruments are surreal. Also Aperture & Final Cut are awesome.

I work in I.T. now, and love computers. I think I have more fun building them or upgrading them than using them... I go all the way back to the Apple II in 7th grade. Worked in video editing during the early days of non-linear digital video (TurboCube! which was based on a Mac 7100). So after suffering through OS 7, 8, and 9 - I became obsessed with buying used OSX Power Mac's on ebay and fixing/upgrading them. I don't recall the first Hackintosh I built, and I didn't take it seriously at first - but I've been using various forms of rock solid stable Hackintosh's for the last 4-5 years. I still own real Mac's and I've converted most of my family to buying real Mac's. Whenever a coworker is telling me some horrible story of playing Sysadmin virus/malware cleanup crew for the parents or brother-in-law, I'm always like "... no idea what you're talking about - My mom has a Mac now and hasn't asked me about it in years!"

I basically am going Hackintosh because I would love a machine that I can update parts on if need be down the line. I have a late '06 24" iMac that I love but can't upgrade anything in it except the video card from a 7300Gt to 7600GT lol. I cannot afford a MacPro and even those you can only upgrade so much stuff on it and those parts are an arm and a leg in costs. I love using Mac OS and have been using it for about 10 years now and would love to keep using it. I figure with diving in and making my own computer I can learn a few things and take some pride in making it myself.

Everything, I have built/repaired things...including electronics since I was in high school in the 60's. My background in engineering and I currently design/code/build custom electronics for artists. I also like new challenges and it looked like making a nice looking Hackintosh in a G5 case would present one. It presented a few challenges, but didn't require any new skills.

Been in the IT field for 15 years, always with PC's. A friend showed me his hackintosh and I was hooked. Built G5 mod #1 last year with a Core 2 duo / ga-p35-ds3l and have started G5 mod #2 this month with a i5-2500k, C300 SSD, Noctura NH-D14 cooler, and a Seasonic PS . For the mb, I'm trying to decide on either the ga-z68-d2h-b3 or the ga-z68-ud2h-b3. Didn't use iBoot or MB the first go round, but will this time.

I've been a computer geek since first introduced to Basic coding in high school. Work in information security and am a chronic tinkerer. Really enjoy mucking around with the Hackintosh and making it work. Find it a little humorous that my Hackintosh build is more stable than my Windows 7 build. :headbang:

I simply have a Hackintosh because I want the best performance for the best price, I'm a web designer, I've had 3 real Macs.. I loved them but again upgrading is expensive, can't overclock and things along those lines, which is why I have a Hackintosh
