Geforce 680M color banding/dithering issue? ?

My 680M seems to be running fine with either the webdriver or OSX driver. OpenCL benchmarks and games even run fine. The only problem is that the color mode seems to be in 16 bit or something less than 32bit. You can easily tell by looking at some images nd seeing gradient like circles. All similar issues I found in the forums were for ATI. Thanks!

Also this is what I get under system report:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M:

So far I have:

1. Verified that QE/CI is fully functional via several methods
2. Confirmed that my EDID is exactly the same as the one I have when booting in windows.

But still can't get it to go into 32bit color depth. This is not an issue in windows so we know the card is not defective.

Just noticed that the issue is not evident if I view this screen shot on another machine. So ignore the screenshot and see if you can still help :)

Geforce 680M Color Banding/Dithering issue?

I think the problem is that my laptop screen is not being recognized as LVDS. Here is a copy of my IOReg. I have made modifications via DSDT to force it to laptop lcd but still no effect.

Here is a very interesting discovery. I connected an external HDMI monitor to my laptop. And it DOES NOT have this issue. I set my desktop to span across the two monitors. In that case when I move an image from my laptop to the external HDMI, the color banding issue goes away.

The HDMI + laptop screen combo is only working because of the DSDT edits I made. I'm not sure which one of my DSDT edits has fixed HDMI. But I know if I remove my DSDT, HDMI will not work and my machine will freeze upon boot when HDMI is connected.

Attached is my DSDT. Also keep in mind that my laptop is only using the dedicated 680M card. The intel HD is disabled through motherboard and cannot be enabled even if I wanted.

Hi Kako Shirazi,
My laptop has a Quadro K3000m which is a kepler based card like the 680m. I´ve been trying to get it working for a while. Currently the laptop freezes when I connect and external monitor. Please could you post your original DSDT and the modified one where your HDMI port works? I would like to see the differences. My laptop is a Dell M6700, so I´ll need to copy the changes to its DSDT.

Thanks,
Tim P.

it is really rare problem that is exactly the same that I am getting through, did you get any fix on it?? i did;t know what the problem is at first, after searching on the web, found out that it is related to 16 bit color. your explain is what I want to do now. hope you already got a fix on it.

Hi Kako Shirazi,
I own a clevo p370em with a Nvidia GTX 680M dual-gpu but neither the native drivers nor Nvidia driver make it work. What patches should I use ?

Thanks.
