Hello everyone!
I built a Hackintosh system a few months ago (Z68XP-UD4 F5, Intel i7-2700k, GTX 570 HD SC, running 10.7.4), and I've been doing a little research on some of the new things out right now. I am trying to do some research on the UEFI BIOS, but I had a few questions:
- - I have read some people saying that the upgrade to UEFI is permanent, but then I read someone else claiming that they upgraded to UEFI but decided to go back down to Fx BIOS. Is the upgrade reversible or irreversible?
- - I also read that UEFI is in the beta stage still - however, those posts I have read seem sort of old, is it still in beta (meaning there are a few bugs that could occur)? Also, with UEFI, the big pro is that no DSDT is needed, correct?
- - If I wanted to upgrade my system to Mountain Lion, is UEFI needed?
I have been thinking about upgrading to Mountain Lion soon (because I heard there are a few updates with nVidia cards, such as no OpenCL Enabler needed and a few other things that I think is cool), but right now I sort of already have a stable running Lion Hackintosh (and I also don't really want to full wipe my system, but I have read some people that didn't wipe and they're still good, but I feel not wiping completely could run into hidden problems in the future... Opinions about that?).
Any clarification on the UEFI would be appreciated. Thanks again!
