At startup my monitors buttons would dim and the buttons buttons were unresponsive, then I would get a blank screen instead of the login screen. I would have to power cycle the monitor (by physically unplugging the power) every time I started the computer before the monitor would display the login screen. I've heard of a couple others with this same issue. After some trial and error I found the culprit was the NVClockX.kext from the fakesmc plugins. If I remove the kext I no longer need to power cycle and everything works as it should. Remove "System/Library/Extensions/NVClockX.kext" and let me know if it fixes the problem. I would be interested to know if this kext has since been updated with the latest multi beast, and if it affects the newer nvidia cards or just the older ones like my GT220.

Unfortunately I don't have the NVClock kext in my S/L/E folder. I think Multibeast puts it in if you check BIOS plug ins.
For my most recent build, I never got to Multibeast. My Mt. Lion showed the black screen when I first booted my ML up.

I'm glad for you. I'll need to keep looking for the SSD fix.

I read that there are problems installing ML on OCZ Agility 3 240GB SSD. Somewhere there's a workaround.
Maybe I'll have to install on a HDD.

As layt said, NVClockX.kext is a FakeSMC plugin.

Multibeast installs it inside the FakeSMC.kext at:

/System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext/Contents/PlugIns/NVClockX.kext

If I get to the place where I can use Multibeast, I'll have a fix. My problem must be different. I'll try installing on a HDD instead of my SSD [which isn't very good anyway.
