this is my first dive into Hackintosh and i have scoured these forums for answers to this issue but nothing has solved my problem. It seems like everyone else isnt really having this issue.

I have a GA-Z77X-UP4 TH with an i5-3570k and a fresh clean install of ML. I can get up and running with unibeast, then run multibeast and get network and audio running. USB is a bit sticky as it will freeze the machine if i insert anything while running but thats not what i am trying to tackle right now. My issue here is that i cant get the thunderbolt working on this MB. This is a test to see if my work wants to go down the road of building our own HackPros for editing but they really want thunderbolt. Is there something i need to do to make TB start working? It seems like everyone else with a Gigabyte TB board says that it just works...

Hi,

I am not able to test TB myself as I do not have the 27" CinDispl screen yet - it's on my to-buy list :)

However, I am also strugling with the USB3 ports on this mobo - and altough you mention it is currently not your prime concern - I have noticed that if I enable XHCI (USB3) in the bios, my system becomes irratic.
So perhaps it a long shot and totally not related to your problem, but try to switch-off XHCI and see what happens to your TB ports ...

rgds,

F.

I can confirm that Thunderbolt DOES work on this board, as long as the thunderbolt device is connected BEFORE boot.

I've tested it with a Sonnet Echo Expresscard/34 adapter with a Firewire 800 Expresscard/34 and a firewire 800 bus shows up in system profiler. I got a Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter yesterday that I haven't tested yet and I have a few other Expresscard/34 that I plan on trying.

I also have a 2011 27" iMac that has thunderbolt that I will test in target display mode. As the CPU I currently have in the board isn't an Ivy Bridge CPU I don't have the integrated graphics work properly so I'm not expecting it to work correctly or even work at all until A) I get the HD3000 working correctly or B) replace the CPU with an Ivy Bridge one.

what did you have to do? I have a 2011 11" macbook air with Sandy Bridge Core i7 1.8Ghz and i boot that into target mode w thunderbolt and when i reboot my HackPro, it doesnt see anything. Under system info>thunderbolt is says "Thunderbolt: no hardware was found. Is there something in MultiBeast that needs to be installed? I dont have any HDD controllers installed. Is there one that i should install to help this process?

Anyone? I just noticed that this MB got pulled from the CustoMac build page and thats good to know that its no longer suggested. However, i still own this thing and would love for it to work... Any ideas on why TB wouldn't be working? Im super green at this so im hoping its something simple like a driver that i need to load or something like that.

I just tried my 2011 MBA in Thunderbolt target disk mode and it didn't work. Last night I also tried using my 2011 27" iMac in Thunderbolt Target display mode and this also didn't work.

There isn't anything that needs to be done with Multibeast, It should just work! (As long as the Thunderbolt device is connected before boot.)

I have now tested a Apple Thunderbolt Firewire adapter and it worked, though no firewire bus showed in system profiler until a firewire device (Motu 8Pre) was connected to the adapter.

It has been documented that nothing shows in the Thunderbolt section of system profiler even when Thunderbolt is working. This is exactly what I have experienced.

Sorry it's not much help, but don't pull your hair out because target disk mode isn't working.

I had this problem with my hackintosh, i mount a Gigabyte Z77MX D3H TH and i bought from the apple store the adaptor TB to FW to connect my M Audio Profire 610.

First installation it was working very well, of course it has to be plugged in before boot...

Then i upgrade my Hack with a Asus nVidia GeForce 210 and reinstalled the operating system (Mountain Lion)...

Everything is working except my soundcard. Sometimes it turn on the blue light after boot but it's not working (the others light that always turn on never show up)

I use VIA VT2021 kext for my audio can it be the problem?

Or can be the upgrade of the graphic card? I tried to take off the nVidia but it's not working either...

I'm really getting mad of it!! Please help

No help here. Just another confused owner of this board. I have almost everything running smoothly EXCEPT Thunderbolt and the Wifi/Bluetooth cards (which OSX see's in system profiler, but they don't seem to be working).

As far as Thunderbolt I too have the TH to FW800 adapter for my Lacie external drives and they work great, but if I ever try to connect a Thunderbolt drive I get the beachball and OSX crashes. I have searched and searched and can't seem to find a resolution to this issue. Initially I was using the MacPro 3.1 system definitions, but I was having some audio/video playback glitches and quickly realized that unless you have ECC memory then you shouldn't be setup as a MacPro. I switched to iMac 13.2 definitions and everything seems to run smoothly now, but I still can't seem to get it to recognize the Thunderbolt hardware even though my Lacie drives running through the Thunderbolt connector via the FW800 adapter are still working fine.

I sincerely hope that someone out there has some fixes for this or else I picked up the Thunderbolt board for no reason. Any help is greatly appreciated!

For the record I am running OSX 10.8.5.
