Although I will install a GTX 670 in a short while, I did try to get my Radeon 6950 2GB (Sapphire Dirt III edition) working in Mountain Lion. And I did! Not sure what works and doesn't, but boots fine, full res on a 27" monitor, iTunes works etc. Tried Luxmark, but that crashed hard.

You need a 'helper' card for this to work. In my case the Intel HD4000 built in to the i7 3770K.

I installed 10.8 the normal way, without the Radeon physically installed in my system, using a spare 24" HDMI connected monitor, as my 27" only has DVI. Then I plugged the Radeon back in and connected through the DVI to my 27". This worked, but with no full res.

I than changed the original AMDRadeonAccelerator.kext in SLE with the one found on Netkas's forum. Can't upload it here... file is over 5 MB.

Then you need Mountain Lion to believe that you are running a Macbook Pro with an extra monitor. Set the "Init Display First" option in your Peripherals menu in BIOS to "IGFX". This will boot the system using the Intel HD4000. Although I have no monitor attached to the HD4000, the system boots up fine... I only don't see anything.

While starting the computer with a black screen, Chimera and Mountain Lion are doing their work. After about a minute, the Radeon kicks in and I have got full res screen on my connected monitor. I will post a screen shot in a minute!

Hi, I've the same board as you with the 3570k, did you use a DSDT? I'm looking to use the HD4000

Ah, I thought it was going to work out of the box with ML/Chimera 1.11/Unibeast 1.5?

it does, but not at full power. it'll allow you one resolution and choppiness. using the same board and processor so if i figure out anything i'll let you all know. most tricks i've been reading have not worked quite right

Okay, great. I'll give it a go myself later/tomorrow and report back.

So this trick works expect I am getting very low performance on my 6950. the launchpad is really slow and choppy anyone else experiencing this? My system info shows it is fully recognizing the 6950 will all correct specs, wonder what is causing it to be so slow?

I cannot get this to work to save my life.

Am working with a XFX HD 6950 2 GB
a gigabyte ga-z68xp-ud3-issd
an i7-2600k (so HD 3000)

Everything I try all I get back is white screens, and setting the graphics to choose HD 3000 first just presents me with black screens and no feedback at all.

It did manage to work once, but just by pure chance have no idea why, all I did was restarted it after a crash and miss putting in anything at the chimera screen, cannot get this to happen again. This was still not fully accelerated though and was quite blurry when trying to move apps around the screen.
