Hey everybody,

First of all, I'm glad that the installation of OS X on a PC is so much simpler now! Using the guide here I was able to get my ancient C2D system running ML in just a couple hours.

I'm using the Asus P5K-E (P5K-E/WIFI-AP) and Mountain Lion 10.8.5

My graphics worked right off the bat, and sound worked with the VooDoo kext that I applied through multibeast.

Any hope to get the built in LAN working? This board has the Marvell 88E8056 Gigabit PCI-E based adapter.

And the on board (USB) based WIFI is "ASUS WiFi-AP Solo" according to Asus's site.

The wired LAN is more important to me...

Just wondering if anybody else is still running on this dinosaur of a board and could share some advice. Haven't tried sleep yet, so not sure if that works or not.

Thanks!

Hi all,

I have the same motherboard. Did you get the wifi to work and the sound? Also did you use kextbeast to install IONetworkingFamily.kext?

Thank you so much to point me in the right direction for the LAN.

Joaquin

Bump. I've got the same board running Lion 10.7.5 and everything works except for the wifi (which I don't even bother with) Sleep, speed-step, graphics (Radeon 6870), and Q6600 OC to 3.0GHz. I'm selling my setup soon and would like offer Mountain Lion as an optional OS configuration. Mavericks is probably not ever going to happen, but Mountain Lion should still offer high compatibility for at least another year. If Apple keeps offering OS upgrades for free, we'll see if that upgrade crawl remains.

I've just install mavericks on this mobo: http://blog.vondroid.com/?p=2958 but need a usb audio stick and not using the default AD1988b

I've the same motherboard with Mavericks installed and all is working fine, except wifi, but this is a known issue.
For audio I use the default AD1988b, patching the original Mavericks Applehda.kext.
For ethernet I use a modified Fakesmc with the Marvell 88E8056 injected in the info.plist.
I attach my AppleHDA. If you want to use it you need an edited dsdt and in the HDEF section you have to change the layout-id to 4. It should look like this:

Device (HDEF)
{
Name (_ADR, 0x001B0000) // _ADR: Address
Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized) // _DSM: Device-Specific Method
{
Store (Package (0x08)
{
"codec-id",
Buffer (0x04)
{
0x9B, 0x82, 0x43, 0x10
},

"layout-id",
Buffer (0x04)
{
0x04, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00
},

"device-type",
Buffer (0x17)
{
"Analog Devices AD1988B"
},

"PinConfigurations",
Buffer (Zero) {}
}, Local0)
DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0))
Return (Local0)
}
}
}
I hope I have been helpful. Let me know if you need more info

I couldn't get this working. Here's a copy of my HDEF entry:

}
Device (HDEF)
{
Name (_ADR, 0x001B0000)
Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized)
{
Store (Package (0x08)

},
"device-type",

},
"PinConfigurations",
Buffer (Zero) {}
}, Local0)
DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0))
Return (Local0)
}
}

I've attached a copy of the DSDT.aml file as well. Any idea what's wrong?

Have you installed Mavericks on your system, because the kext I've attached is for Mavericks and I don't think it will work in other version of OSX. I checked your dsdt and I noticed that you used a different approach than mine. For example It seem You have injected your graphics card. Do you boot with graphicsenabler=Yes or No ? Can you post a clean DSDT and your org.chameleon.Boot.plist.?

Yep, I just did a fresh install of 10.9.1

I checked your dsdt and I noticed that you used a different approach than mine. For example It seem You have injected your graphics card.

This was a workaround needed in the early days of implementation of ATI 6800 series graphics to get HDMI audio output. It's no longer necessary but since it didn't cause trouble with Mavericks I'd left it in place. This is the DSDT I've used since installing LION.

Do you boot with graphicsenabler=Yes or No ?

No. Graphics injection isn't needed since about 10.7.3 for Radeon 6800 series

Can you post a clean DSDT and your org.chameleon.Boot.plist.?

I'll need to boot into a fresh OS and will get back. Thanks for your help!
