Hey guys! So after a week and a half of late nights trying to get ML installed on my rig, I finally did it. I want to personally thank everyone who contributed with ideas to get ML installed successfully on my computer. I know it's not an easy task for many of you, but my advice is to never give up! Anyways, I'll quickly summarize my big issue with installing ML and the tricks it took to get it to work! Trust me, I felt like I was the only one here on the forums with this problem but I guess I wasn't alone!

1. Create that Unibeast install USB. Since I have a 6xxx card, I had to back up the ATI6000Controller.kext to my Dropbox and delete the kext from my USB stick. Download ShowAllFiles from the download section on this site to show hidden files to see it! (there's also a terminal command to do this too, you can Google it).

2. Enter the Gigabyte BIOS. Here's the little trick! If you were me and had problems with the white flash/reboot symptom trying to boot into the ML installer (no matter what boot command you might have tried), go to Advanced BIOS Settings > No-Execute Memory Protect > Enable. It was originally disabled in 10.7.4 Lion on my rig, but for some reason, ML wants this enabled. You're going to keep this enabled for now on, don't disable it or you'll see the flash/reboot symptom again.

3. Boot into the ML installer with the boot command GraphicsEnabler=No.

4. Once done installing, the computer will reboot. Boot the hard drive you installed ML on with the same boot command GraphicsEnabler=No.

5. You'll boot into ML with a lower resolution. Download KextWizard here (note: you'll have to go into System Preferences > Security and Privacy and allow apps from everywhere to be installed, because by default ML enables a setting to restrict installing any app but those found on the Apple App Store).

Take the backup ATI6000Controller.kext you made before installing and put it on the desktop. Run KextWizard and click the Install Kext tab. Browse the kext and install to S/L/E. Once done, then click the Repair Permissions tab and repair S/L/E and kext cache. I tried using Kextbeast before this and got an error. Although I saw the kext was added to S/L/E, I still couldn't boot without GraphicsEnabler=No, and my resolution wasn't fixed. So KextWizard is the way to go!

6. Reboot and you'll be good to go!!!

I hope this helps people out there who have searched the forums for answers regarding the flash/reboot symptom experienced before installing. :)

Extra: You'll lose audio after this is all done. I attached a screenshot of my multibeast settings that I installed to get sound working again. Remember you have to reboot after these install to see audio work.

Also... if you're having issues with getting sleep to work in ML...
Kudos to DJ-Shadow for finding a fix to this! I attached the kext to this post. Download, save on the desktop, and run Kext Wizard and browse for this kext and install to S/L/E, also while repairing permissions and cache to S/L/E before rebooting.

Here's the kext:

This needs to be in all the Hackintosh guides. It's a critical step in getting to the install screen. I suffered for weeks trying to solve the problem. I read this post and I was up and running ML in a half hour. Saved me another sleepless night!

So just to clarify for anyone that doesn't know if this applies to them. If you are trying to boot into your USB using unibeast and your computer restarts every time without taking you to the actual light grey apple install screen, you need to follow the above post. It will solve your problem. I think different motherboards name it slightly different but it should be in your advanced Bios section. I have an MS-7522 motherboard and that's where it was for me.

Hello

I got sleep working on my board by using the Sleep Enabler from http://www.osx86.net/view/2972-sleepenabler_universal.html

AWESOME!!!!! You are a life-saver, thanks for sharing. It works great on my rev 1.0 motherboard. I'll update it to my current guide and credit you for the find. Thanks again!

(Out of curiosity, are you experiencing issues with your front mic port when simultaneously plugged into your front headphone port? I cant get both to work at the same time without glitches)

Hello

Not tried it too be honest as all my connections are on the back, will give it a go tomorrow.

Regards Mike Ruff

Hello

I have tried the front ports with both MIC and Headphones and no issues for me, mine you I do have the Rev 2.0 board.

Mike

Thanks for this! Finally got sleep working perfect with my Rev 2.0 board. Also your tips worked well for getting the install to boot with a 6870 card without having to swap video cards temporarily.

Ran sleep enabler, rebooted and it was ok.

Tested sleep, but the system fans never stopped running.

Couldn't then wake it up, so had to hold the power button to kill it.

Are there any BIOS settings you think might be affecting it?
