I used hlfhi's method to boot OC, I updated Catalina OTA, updated but got the error I posted before, started using hlfhi's suggested EFI, removed the EDID for the 4k monitor and finally updated OpenCore. What problem are you having?
That did the trick! (So far!) Thank again for your help!
Edit: After ironing some annoyances I managed to upgrade to OC 0.6.9 and I'm flawlessly running Big Sur 11.4
Thanks again hlfhi!
Just tried that EFI, the verbose now proceeds but I'm getting a black screen. It's probably because I've got a 1080p screen
Edit: macos apparently boots, if I press a key I'm getting sound effects, I'm just getting no picture at all.
Brilliant workaround! I used to get that grey screen and booted opencore from there, it didn't appear all the time though, I'm currently booting Opencore on my i5 7559 now using your solution.
Thanks a lot!
I see you have the i5 model, if you're trying to boot on uefi, it won't work for some reason, are you trying to boot using opencore or clover? If you're using opencore, that won't work either, try creating a clover legacy usb
I read up a few threads on ****** and other forums and I think my problem is that I am dual booting atm, so windows might be messing around with OC boot files. Gonna have to try until I install an m2 ssd.
I kinda got it working now, using legacy boot instead of UEFI, but instead of going straight to the Opencore menu it takes me to this menu instead:
I have to go into boot manager and pick the efi boot file manually.
Did anyone else have this problem?
I started an EFI from scratch and got this log now:
