I've lost faith a new BIOS will ever release without Thunderbolt issues. I'm on the new capsule BIOS, F9, for one reason only: Resizable BAR, and I'm stuck there. I've had to switch to Windows for the time being where a workaround is to leave TB devices turned off until I've booted into Windows...
Hi Casey,
I couldn't see this on the first post, so I'm probably not the first to ask, but I can see that there's a new BIOS available, F9: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z390-DESIGNARE-rev-10/support#support-dl
It seems to address some major vulnerabilities. Have you tested it? It seems...
One reason is Resizable BAR support, which is nice for dual boot systems (even though it must be toggled on/off as you need it). You mentioned they were testing a new BIOS version. Do you have any more details to share about this?
@CaseySJ
Hey Casey, hope you're doing well. Some time ago, you mentioned in a reply to me that Gigabyte was testing a new BIOS update internally that may finally address the problems we've had with F9j. I'm curious, do you have any news to share, or a source we can learn more from?
If you use native Intel WiFi/BT instead of Fenvi and you have a wireless keyboard, it quickly becomes a nuisance to have to keep plugging/unplugging a cable just to access BIOS and toggle this setting. Besides, the Hackintosh community wasn't built on this mindset of "it's not big enough of a...
For those of you who is using native Intel Wifi and Bluetooth, or for those of you who might know this:
Is there any way to make Bluetooth peripherals work in OpenCanopy? Or in more general terms, does the on-board Wifi/BT chip support HID Proxy (which is what makes this possible)? I know my...
Still going strong, with no freezes or noticeable hickups. My system is more stable than ever! And finally with support for the 6900 XT that I bought the day it launched and that has been sitting in my system ever since making a fool out of me for believing Big Sur would have day one support for...
So, THIS IS AMAZING! Yes, I run F9i, and I've tried reflashing F9i before to see if it resolved my Thunderbolt problems without luck. But this time, after reading your message, I tried something else - I flashed F9j and then reflashed F9i. I don't know what to tell you other than this is pure...
Good suggestions, thanks!
So, this is happening even on a clean install.
But, I've managed to narrow this down. By disabling Discrete Thunderbolt Support directly in the BIOS, the freezing seems to go away permanently. I will need to test this over a longer time period to verify it though.
I...
Where's this F13h BIOS you're mentioning? Couldn't find it here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z390-DESIGNARE-rev-10/support#support-dl
And why would it fix Ryzen stuff? This is on the Intel Z390 chipset.
It runs very smoothly indeed, but then these random freezes occur, sometimes after minutes, sometimes after an hour or more. Temps are good. I'm not using a flashed Thunderbolt controller. The only hardware change is that there's a 6900 XT in the machine, and I'm using iMac19,1. There's nothing...
This is a bit of a shot in the dark, but on OpenCore 0.6.8 and Mac OS 11.4 beta 1 I've started to experience system freezes. Anyone else having this experience too?
I did read that you advice against F9j, but I've been running with that BIOS for quite some time (as it comes with Resizable BAR support) with everything working great. The Thunderbolt interface worked with no issues (though it has never been able to hot plug). Both on Mac OS and in Windows...
Hi everyone, and in particular you @CaseySJ. After upgrading my dual boot (Windows/macOS) system to OpenCore 0.6.8 and migrating my config.plist, my Thunderbolt ports have begun acting up. I'm on BIOS F9jand haven't flashed the Thunderbolt firmware. I've used this setup for very long with no...
