Not sure if this is relevant to your GPU, on my system 4K@60Hz is currently enabled by CsmVideoDxe-64.efi (installed by Clover) right from the boot screen

Hello, my El Capitan desktop won't show after BIOS update... /SKIPPED UPDATE: The "Intel MEI" jumper on the motherboard was the issue. I disabled MEI before update (as the manual recommends) and left the jumper in the disabled position
