I encountered the same -scary- issue on my GA-X58 mobo. I have been able to solve by adding the 'AppleRTC patch for CMOS reset' during Multibeast Configuration

Have you tried the following settings in your BIOS Enable USB Legacy Support for mouse/keyboard? Increase HDD startup delay to allow for finding your ports? Good luck!
