Thank's for posting this janitor. This was the last item on my get done list and after picking up a new SSD I also purchased one of these cards at the same time, used the kext in the first post and now (finally) have proper WiFi.
If anyone else is interested I'm running Lion 10.7.4...
I did some more testing. I deleted all kexts in E/E except for FakeSMC I was then able to sleep without the sleepenabler.kext but still had CMOS reset at restart. Re added:
IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext
ALC8xxHDA.kext
And same as above. Will try the RTC patch again later and see what...
When you boot and see your OSX HD press down on keyboard and select video make sure it supports 1080p resolution in VESA. You may need to add the resolution to the theme.plist as well.
Those with Z68 this worked for which definitions are you using?
I haven't got it to work. Screen shuts down fans keep spinning and only way to resolve is with a hard turn off.
smbios.plist: iMac 2011 12,2
Using 10.7 sleep enabler kext
Its responses like this that make me question why I should bother giving my time trying to help people. So this is probably the last time I will address you. You should learn to be more polite to people who are giving advice for free in the future.
If the card didn't work I wouldn't say it...
GraphicsEnabler=Yes will get system profiler to show the correct graphics card. Sounds like you're having other issues, which kexts do you have in Extras?
Just partition your hardrive use xmove and choose the new partition. Once its done boot into new Lion install use disk utility to erase main partition, use carbon copy cloner to clone fresh lion partition onto main partition. reboot. and delete the second partition or keep it for backup.
I love my setup. Everything works as you would expect it too with a real mac. Get 1600Mhz RAM, brand doesn't matter to much as benchmarks have shown to be little performance difference between brands at this speed. So just buy the cheapest reliable brand you can find.
Based on RAM and the GPU...
The XFX 6870 can do 3 monitor setup out of box. OOB 1xDVI, 2xMDP, 1xHDMI work. Some problems with the second DVI port.
You will need mini display port to dvi/hdmi adapters for the MDP though.
I was using the 10.7 sleep enabler kext and also had the cmos corruption on restart. Tried the fix in the OP on my SandyBridge and it fubar'd sleep. Reverted back.
You said you could stretch to £270? Drop the gfx from my build and it comes in at 270 you then get a sandy bridge hackintosh which runs on the latest motherboard chipset which helps future proof your machine for at least a couple of years rather than skimping £20 on outdated tech with limited...
