So, I'm trying to piece everything together. I think I am missing something. I'm working with an HP 15t laptop with i7-10510U. I tried out each EFI folder in the last few pages of this thread, but no luck. The farthest I have gotten is having the installer complete the copy to internal disk...

I gave Catalina a try this week on my HP laptop with i7 10th gen. Was not able to get very far. Mojave surprisingly got farther in the process. The installer loaded, I was able to format an APFS partition, and the first phase of the install completed. I currently have the macOS partition as well...
