Has anyone had experiences DISABLING Speedstep, C-states, etc on this mobo?
Since Pro Tools is terrible at CPU management, a lot of people suggested experimenting with disabling EIST, Speedstep, C-state things so that it's always at a nice, steady clockspeed. Just so it doesn't cause overloads...
Any functional/performance upgrades if upgrading from 5.9 to 6? Mine's been super solid and just hesitant to mess with it, but down to try if it means better performance
Update to my previous coil whine issue: Swapped out the PSU For a Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 11 and now the machine is a silent as can be (even with the GPU in) :headbang:
Moral of the story: the PSU matters!!
Just got my Fenvi card and now doing all bluetooth keyboard/mouse. Still a little bit of squeal. Will monitor over the next day or so. Have a new Be Quiet Pro PSU coming tomorrow to test.
The noise seems to come from both the PSU and the mobo's CPU area.... maybe a little the GPU itself? Nothing out of the speakers thankfully.
It's kinda unpredictable when I will experience it. Sometimes when scrolling (both mouse and with keyboard arrows), sometimes when downloading a big file...
Pulling the GPU was the next thing to try.... did that, and now I have nothing on screen with either a USB-C or Displayport adaptor. Maybe I should have swapped my config file for the iGPU one before trying?
Any instructions for downloading/compiling the beta Lilu? Found it. Boots, but...
Ok last issue I'm trying to sort out...
I'm getting grinding noises (coil whine?) from the CPU and PSU when doing trivial things in MacOS. Almost sounds like a hard drive. Silly stuff like scrolling, downloading files, etc. Anybody with similar issues?
From googling, many Hackintosh users have...
Just got my Vision D/i9 10900k Hackintosh up and running!! Overall this install was VERY smooth following this guide. My Apollo system works great right out of the gate too!
Only issue... my fans seem to rev up and down a lot. CPU temps hanging out like 43C when idle. Maybe I just did a bad job...
Awesome. Are the Apollo rigs using daisychain'd interfaces? My rig is 2x x8ps and just want to make sure I'm golden. Looking at doing the 10900k with the z490 as well. Any special config tips?
After reading this thread, sounds like I might want to just plan on doing the Thunderbolt flash? I run two Apollos daisy chain'd and have to swap sample rates often to open different projects. From what I gather the Daisy Chaining might require Thunderbolt bus?
Maybe not after looking at this...
Thanks so much for this guide. Glad to see it's looking very useable!!
Question (while I'm still trying to read through this entire thread)... did the issues with Thunderbolt and UAD Apollos get sorted? Thinking about building a rig but with the i9 for my music studio, so trying to find a build...
