success! yay! have installed SL on VM and updated to 10.6.8 with no problem. I have the app store but haven't downloaded ML yet because I am not sure if that is the path that I want to go. I have found ways to run SL on Ivy so I might stay with that but will be playing with this to see if I can...
Did you ask "Seriously... do you think that Tony would recommend something which is not compatible?"
Ummmm.. the short answer is YES... So don't give attitude by saying "Seriously..."
If you have been following things lately then you know that the first recommendations have NOT been compatible...
I will try the method I found and get back here if it's successful.
Sorry for the link about the success of an install that went to another site. Won't do it again.
This guy built an Ivy Z77 rig and started from scratch with SL and was able to download ML and install on VM!
Does this mean there is hope for those of us that are building our first hack without access to a mac or hack to make a unibeast install drive?
oops forgot to include the link...
Thank you for your reply but as you may or may not know SL isn't supported on my build so I cannot "start by purchasing a 10.6.x Snow Leopard DVD from Apple, install it with iBoot and upgrade it to 10.6.6. Then you can download Mountain Lion and run Unibeast to install it on a flash drive" I...
Thanks for your answer. I don't have the GA-Z77 board but I have the H77 board so I was wondering if there was a difference but upon closer inspection I found that I have the unsupported chip :banghead:
Does that mean I have to get a wi-fi card to connect to the internet?
Hello all! I have been reading this:

2 things changed, power input 4port to 8port & Network Chipset AR8151 to AR8161
So, now rev 1.1 Board don't use reference hackintosh
and
The AR8161 doesn't work in OS X, so yes, it's an issue.
I have a H77-DS3H reversion...

Intel Core i3-3225 + GA-H77-DS3H rev 1.1 + 8GB Corsair 1600Mhz DDR3 + Seagate SATA 2TB HDD + Sony DVD drive + onboard graphics + Windows 7 ( waiting to install ML )
this is my build btw
Has anyone tried installing SL on an Intel Core i3-3225, GA-H77-DS3H setup using an emulator or virtual box like VirtualBox? Theoretically would we be able to install SL from retail disk, upgrade SL to get app store, prepare a Unibeast USB flash drive, download ML from the app store and burn it...
Hey Tony - you updated the top post but you left this in.
1. Installation setup is UniBeast.
2. If you don't have access to a Mac, use iBoot + MultiBeast + Snow Leopard 10.6 Retail DVD.
3. Post installation is MultiBeast.
Does that mean that method number 2 works by installing Snow Leopard...
