A mac issue? Do normal macbooks also have this problem in Mavericks? I find it strange that it was working fine and then all of a sudden the problem came back again for no apparent reason. It's also strange that the battery indicator in the login window still displays correctly...

Ok! So I reinstalled about 3 weeks ago, and that *seemed* to fix the issue, but it's just now started back again! I haven't done anything out of the ordinary—I've just been using it to browse the web and code mostly. Obviously I don't want to do a fresh install every three weeks haha. Any ideas...

No but it looks like I might have to. Updated to 10.9.2 and can't get my system to boot with the Unibeast USB (boot with verbose says "still waiting for root device"). Sigh.

Fresh install seems to have solved the issue.
