If you've installed any software that adds extensions that load at boot, that could be a contributing factor. Keep in mind that software generally won't tell you that it's doing this like Little Snitch, I believe, or drivers for some hardware. External hardware you may have attached to the...
Seeing as it’s clearly a Windows only issue (booting via the Windows Boot Manager via BIOS has nothing to do with a configured hackintosh EFI AFAIK), I’d recommend getting help on a Windows forum (you’d get better help and it wouldn’t clog up this macOS thread). I can’t really give much support...
Are you booting Windows using OpenCore? If so, I wouldn’t recommend it even though some users have it working fine. Just use your BIOS boot selector.
If you are using the BIOS, it could be a multitude of solely Windows-related issues and have nothing to do with hackintosh. My laptop doesn’t...
No different behaviour with the adapters. In fact, the drive doesn't even bother attempting to negotiate and pretty much immediately sets itself at 5Gbps.
I have confirmed that the Type-A ports are capable of Gen 2 however and that the adapters are indeed able to establish that speed through my...
I haven't received the adapters yet but I decided to test with my Sabrent NVMe enclosure that I know for certain is Gen 2 (plugging it into any of my 4 TB3 ports confirms the 10Gbps link speed). The product came with both a C to C and C to A cable and a lot of this is heavily dependent on...
Hi @CaseySJ,
I've been following this thread pretty attentively since its inception and I don't think I've seen a mention about getting the red USB Type-A ports running at their 3.1 gen 2 speeds of 10Gbps as reported by Gigabyte's documentation of the Z390 Designare. I'm just curious about...
Hi @CaseySJ
Sorry to derail the flow of the current discussion, but I just wanted to confirm that the Sonnet Twin10G works on both flashed and non-flashed TB3 controllers. It's amazing to see your hard work allow for an ever-growing list of device compatibility! Thank you so much.
Did you have previous drivers already installed or are you installing them for the first time now? I just replaced the older drivers and after a reboot things seem to be working just fine. I don't have many devices to test with but everything I had working previously still works (wireless...
I guess I should have mentioned that the screenshot is for the AIC when it's improperly configured on RP05 via a direct copy from the current version of HackinDROM. The internal controller using SSDT-Z390-DESIGNARE-TB3HP-V4.aml contains the proper code just as you configured it :)
Thanks for...
You and @CaseySJ are absolute madlads for updating and fixing problems so quickly. Can confirm that the current version of HackinDROM is able to generate an SSDT that does not show duplicate ports and uses the chosen bus id. I should also mention that I manually edited the SSDT to change...
Changing PCI0 to PCI1 made for what seems to be some un-ideal results, but the ports still work.
Great! So I'll continue forward with the setup I have as you've outlined (original SSDT for the Designare and HackinDROM SSDT for the AIC with a modification to accommodate for RP21).
I'll be sure...
Good to know! Changing RP05 to RP21 in the HackinDROM generated .aml allows for the correct bus id to show. It also seems to detect duplicate dummy Thunderbolt ports but the AIC is confirmed working despite this.
Thanks for taking the time to help me take a look at this!
Fresh SSDT with bus id 2 has been placed into ./ACPI/.
System Information doesn't show Bus 2, however. I also added the IOReg info in case that might be of help.
For the crash reported in post 23765 I'll keep an eye out for it again. I unfortunately don't know how to reproduce it.
EDIT: If I...
Done.
Using your updated tool, I assigned the Titan Ridge AIC V1 to Bus 2. I'm not positive what the onboard one is using, however.
I should also note that only my AIC controller has a flashed firmware on it. The Designare controller is still stock/unmodified.
Yes sir!
I seem to be okay on that front.
On a side note, may I ask why you don't have SSDT-Z390-DESIGNARE-TB3HP-V4.aml? Is it because you're only using the onboard Thunderbolt controller and no AIC?
