So to clarify, you were trying to use a different ethernet card, and not the ethernet that's installed on the motherboard?
I still can't get my internet working. Network settings says my cable is unplugged, though it is plugged in! I really don't know what's causing it, and I've tried...
I must be doing something wrong then, because with those settings it won't even boot up. Going back to my USB drive so that I can try Multibeast again. Any ideas of what I should be looking for to discover any problems (logs, etc)?
Edit question: is it necessary to go back and boot from the USB...
It worked, finally. I decided to just start over with a new and unused 1TB drive I had originally planned to install as a Time Machine drive and never got around to it. Once I went through a clean Mavericks install on that one, everything was fine. Now I'll just have to bring my old files over.

Here's my boot screen when the...

Edit: rebuilt my Unibeast install USB with the bios in the /extras folder, and no change following Mavericks install. Still getting a KP on the first boot.
Thank you for posting your experience. I'm stuck trying to install Mavericks on my old 10.6.2 rig, and stuck getting stuck with the...
Finished Install, can't get through first boot
System: Gigabyte P55m-UD2, F11 bios (just updated from F4! Yeah, I know!) and Snow Leopard. Now I wish I had left well-enough alone!
I'm getting stuck at during the first boot, and can't get to Multibeast.
Boot flags...
