Thank you for your observation Dean 2013.
The plot thickens.
I had not yet removed the computer itself as the source of the problem, so I installed 10.15.5 onto an SSD in a Optiplex 9010 I had. Boot time: 17 seconds, no stalls.
Put that SSD into the original 7010: still over a minute.
One...
Did a new installation with a different installation file (10/.5.5 vs 10.15.4), different USB drive, different SSD. Same result.
At about 20 seconds into the boot, the screen pauses here for twenty-something seconds:
It pauses for around the same time again at “AGDP” and here is what...
Debug not checked per Configurator, even put a debug /false command in the config.plist after seeing that suggestion in this thread.
I looked at the verbose boot log for the 7010 as compared to the 7020. There are two major areas of delay that do not occur with the 7020.
1) At about 15...
I am attempting to install Catalina and then put it on an NVME drive with an Optiplex 7010/i7-3770/HD4000, and while I have been able to do so, the boot time for a boot from either SSD or NVME is much longer than it is on my Mojave 9020. It is taking about 73 seconds to go from the Clover boot...
It was in there. I'll go back to working on this tomorrow.
(Later addition:): I think I need to explain this "loop" a little bit better: You start the install, it sees the NVMe, it lets you format; it lets you start installing files. It's when it first reboots that it does not give you the...
I have run into a far worse set of problems trying to set up other computers and NVMe's. Clover has the bad habit of not picking up the NVMe during installation and going into a loop giving you only the USB to boot from (even if you hit F3 for the hidden choices). I was becoming convinced the...
I attempted the install, and yes, Uni/MultiBeast did what was promised on a 9020 with an i7-4790. The installation generally works and the Samsung 960 worked fine, gives a read speed of about 2500-2600MB/s. However, HDMI audio does not show up; the line outs, line ins and headphones do. It's...
I posted about a month saying I was going to try this, and since then I have procured an Optiplex 9020 i7 and a 7020 i5. For now, I am more interested in the NVMe angle of this build, and have a few NVMe's, including a Samsung 960 and an HP EX920 to try.
I certainly plan to do a Clover boot...
I used your Optiplex 7010 guide, and it worked well. Thank you.
The thought of using Clover to enable the use of NVMe boot drives on older Optiplexes appeals to me, and I've just implemented that on several Windows machines. While I may buy a 7020/9020 to implement this project, I was...
