This might be obvious, but... Are you using the arrow keys on the KB? And are you hitting the arrow key a few times? Often the first key strike seems to be ignored.
The p55 boards are currently better supported on this forum, and the i7-860 is a native chip for osX, which brings your system closer to fully vanilla. If you're not overclocking, then the in my opinion, the 860 is the way to go.
It's faster than the 920 at stock speeds. Then again, you could...
Welcome, PDXgeek. From the PDX in your name, I'll guess that you're in Portland, OR? Me too. Great city. Anyway...
From what I've seen with PSUs, you really do get what you pay for. Except for certain outliers, the more expensive ones really are better. And by "better", I mean they won't...
You're correct that only by using iBoot Supported can you get the "Successfully installed" message. However, it's really only a cosmetic issue. When using iBoot nvidia or iBoot ATI, you will get the "install failed" message at the end of the installation, but that message is a lie. Continue...
I had no trouble at all with the dual monitors, but the card you're using is very different than the Gigabyte Silent Cell (Nvidia 9800 GT) that we are talking about in this thread. I don't know anything about the 5850s.
I had absolutely no problems getting my system up and running using an i7-860 and the p55a-ud4p. The difference that immediately jumps out at me is that you guys are both using ATI graphics cards. See if you can buy or borrow an NVidia card and try that out. I wouldn't be surprised if that was...
I'm pretty sure that all you need for the Silent Cell is "GraphicsEnabler=Yes". Remove NVEnabler if you're using that, and anything other graphics kexts, etc.
Yes, that should work. The Silent Cell even comes with an HDMI to DVI adapter for that very purpose.
Personally, I just use the VGA and the DVI ports (using DVI --> VGA adapter) for my dual monitors. But, that's because I'm cheap and have monitors that don't support DVI input.
Yeah, I think the Realtek ethernet kext ought to work for most Gigabyte boards. As for audio, you just have to look up which codec your board uses and load the appropriate kext from MultiBeast. For most non-natively supported codecs, and since you're using a DSDT, you'll want to use the...
Yes and no. You can't directly install iBoot on your system, I don't think, but you can install the pieces that make iBoot what it is: the boot loader (same as the one in MultiBeast) the legacy or modified kernals, the kexts, 32-bit settings, etc. These are all actually options available in...
Did you do the initial install using the iBoot + MultiBeast method?
In order to boot using the iBoot disk, first make sure that your BIOS is set to boot from the Optical drive before the Hard Drive. Then, put the iBoot disc in your optical drive and power up.
It will load up to a screen...
