Can one use Hackintosh approach to "repair" a defect iMac 27" 2009-2013?

P.S.: I think most imac users don't know hackintosh, but companies repair the graphics cards by "just" replacing one chip, which might have been overheated, but that means, most of the connections may work... but I guess it is not working the way I think, or nobody ever tried?

Can one use Hackintosh approach to "repair" a defect iMac 27" 2009-2013?

The i3, i5, i7 from second generation, Ivy processors, have a graphic card included, can one "activate" those with a kext? I mean HD4000, HD2500 - if the defect graphic card is not totally defect, but can support the signal through to the monitor (I mean something like changing the BIOS from...

Can one use Hackintosh approach to "repair" a defect iMac 27" 2009-2013?

I think one may use the internal graphics of Ivy Processors (2011) - and perhaps some kext to install a hackintosh on the regular Apple board. Is this crazy - or doable easy?

Are there risks in updating Sierra 10.12.3 to 10.12.6

Sorry, I haven't been on hackintosh since 5-10 years - and wasn't good. So can anyone confirm that updating from 10.12.3 to 10.12.6 via online Apple recommendations will overwrite all kexts? So I may need to install them, e.g. with Multibeast? Or, is this only from major upgrades, like 10.12 to...

    What should I do with Z77x-ud3h 1.1 with Ivy processor HD4000 ?

SOLUTION: your diagnosis was right - there was no kext initially, but although none of these (several) Atheros kexts versions also from MultiBeast plus yours for Sierra worked for me. It finally was a different Atheros kext, but your diagnosis was right. ( atherosl1cethernet.kext worked in my...

Are there risks in updating Sierra 10.12.3 to 10.12.6

Hi There, after several years without MacOS, I am pretty unfamiliar with Mac and Hackintosh - just tried the last 3 days - and got some 10.12.3 working - with internet only via USB-WiFi dongle (but speed is OK after changing USB port). The system recommends 4 Updates, including macOS Sierra...

    What should I do with Z77x-ud3h 1.1 with Ivy processor HD4000 ?

How can I get a USB WLAN adapter to work (on 10.12.3 / Sierra): TP-WN823N Do I need to install some kext or driver? (I may download those via Windows-PC, but transfer it wiht a FAT32 USB stick, if necessare.... I still didn't mess up, so the Sierra still starts, but no connection to the...

    What should I do with Z77x-ud3h 1.1 with Ivy processor HD4000 ?

    What should I do with Z77x-ud3h 1.1 with Ivy processor HD4000 ?

I think I should get 10.12 working better, before I move on. I think some of the problems come from the fact, that my HDD was working for the old mainboard (Gigabyte Z68, made for Sandy bridge, working with Ivy bridge processor, and not running in UEFI mode). Now Z77 should be made with UEFI (it...

    What should I do with Z77x-ud3h 1.1 with Ivy processor HD4000 ?

thanks for your new replies, but I am stuck with not getting into the internet with the Hackintosh, so I can't get any macOS. I tried to use Multibeast 9.2.0 - "The installation failed" I tried also to set the system language to English, but that didn't help neither. So, HOW can I get the...

    What should I do with Z77x-ud3h 1.1 with Ivy processor HD4000 ?

Within one day I somehow "replaced" my old, defect Z68x-UD3H with the Z77X-UD3H and I can now reproducibly start from just one 2,5"" HDD with macOS Sierra (10.12.3), which has Clover 3766 on it (personality is a iMac13,2 - i3 3,30 GHz, currently 8GB RAM, BIOS F17). As was recommended here above...

    What should I do with Z77x-ud3h 1.1 with Ivy processor HD4000 ?

Hey, this is getting craza - but in a very positive way !!! It started into Sierra !!!! After searching for some old files I had stored on my G4-(old pre-Intel) Laptops with 10.4 and 10.5 (and HFS+) - and even finding some UniBeast, MultiBeast with "Mountain" Lion, I started a 2 hour loading of...

    What should I do with Z77x-ud3h 1.1 with Ivy processor HD4000 ?

Great, thanks for the very insightful answer. I remember (slowly) some of the difficulties a decade ago... Currently, I am not sure if I need an extra graphic card to start, or will the internal HD4000 be sufficient? Meanwhile I found two HDDs, one with Lion (and with a tonymacx86 figure) , but...

    What should I do with Z77x-ud3h 1.1 with Ivy processor HD4000 ?

Hi, I didn't use my hackintosh since many years. Now, I got a suitable mainboard to replace my crashed one (which was a Z68x-ud3h and worked up to Capitan or Sierra, perhaps High Sierra --- already with the Ivy (!) processors - I am quite sure I have to install everything fresh, since I change...
